Penultimate, season 8 is the last season. Although these two last seasons will have less episodes. I think it's 7 and 6 episodes for these last two seasons respectively, together forming 13 more episodes of GOT. (Heard it is due to putting more budget in each episode with the mega CGIs and stuffs)

I didn't realize it wasn't starting until June, I had thought we were looking at a May release.

Most principle filming is done but there are scenes being filmed in Canada which involve
Spoiler for Hiden:
Arya and "animal actors" namely wolves, so Nymira returns possibly?
and also scenes in Iceland with Jon, Torrmund and some Nights Watch characters, so looks like Jon possibly goes back beyond the Wall but then one of the reasons they pushed this season back was so they could film some proper wintery scenes so perhaps those scenes are of locations further south because winter has come after all.
To have an idea is not enough - no matter how good the idea is.

Is there proper winter anywhere to film in?
It's the middle of February here and 65 degrees fahrenheit.
Maybe... film in one of those indoor skiing slopes in Dubai?

Been to that 'snowfield' Jmack. Nowhere near big enough, besides they'd scare the penguins that live there.
I will expand your TBR pile.

Awesome meme.  The reveal  on the TV show was AMAZING, even if everyone and their mother knew about L+R=J, anyway.

Season 7 can't start soon enough!

One week to go!

I won't be around, so I'll have to record and watch it later...

Ok show discussion incoming:

I thought the episode was OK but not great.  It was the usual first episode setting the table type show but with the condensed season I was hoping to have a little bit more going on.  The Arya scenes were great and I liked the Hound arc but the rest was kind of meh (the Sam part was the worst).

Arya and Hound always seem to have some of the best scenes. And always even better when they are together. Sam is an interesting set up, though (after the looping of crap, slop, dry-heave). He found a "mountain of dragon glass", which could be key (I mean, as readers, we may have been aware to some degree, but him finding this could trigger a plan)
