In addition to the full TV franchise of Star Trek Netflix have confirmed they will be streaming (outside the US) the as yet untitled new series under the showrunnership of Bryan Fuller. The agreement between CBS and Netflix has the streaming service airing the show 24 hours after it is shown in the US in January 2017.

As yet little is known bout the show except that it is due to be set between Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and Star Trek: The Next Generation, so its safe to assume it will be set in the Prime Universe and not the JJ Abrams rebooted alternative timeline. It is also planned that the show will be an anthology series - long the lines of True Detective and Fargo - so each season could feature different characters and settings and also set at different times between the end of the last TOS film and the beginning of TNG. One titbit that has leaked is that the first season will feature Klingon's not happy with the recently signed Khitomer peace accords.

Filming has not started yet as Fuller has only just finished primary shooting on American Gods, sets are under construction and casting is due to begin in the coming weeks.
