It doesnt have the depth or breadth of the Expancse, but Chanur is just so much darn fun! Expanse gets a bit hit or miss in some of the books. Cherryh keeps it going from cover to cover.
Besides, Chanur is basically a Fantasy novel. Dont let the spaceships, space stations and ray guns fool you.
