Nothing here, I abstained myself.

This is the one I'm having real difficulty with. I can't believe there's people who haven't read either.  :o

Asimov is a personal hero of mine, and so -so!- prolific. Foundation remains my all time favourite novel, the Elijah Bailey series is a perfect fusion of crime and science fiction, and his shorts are just great. He's written stuff I don't like, but the heights outweigh the lows.

David Gemmell is similar in some ways. neither has a particularly glossy prose style, but they don't need it. Gemmell is an author I can just read and reread, which I can't say about many others. he does have a tendency to repeat tropes and themes, but his characters are sublime. Skilgannon, Waylander, Druss, Jon Shannow.

Aaaaaarrgghh!

I think I have to go with Asimov, just for Foundation. But I'm happy to see either of these greats progress.

This was the only one of this first batch of matches where I had actually read both authors. Still, was an easy vote - what Alex Hormann says above about Gemmell is pretty spot on, but he's still easily one of my 5 favourite writers.

Well, from all I've heard in the past about Gemmell, I think I'll have to go with him

Tough, two of my favorite authors. I feel this being an unfair battle between one of my favourite SciFi and one of my favourite fantasy authors.  ;D

Asimov is awesome, but I'd have to give this to Gemmell for having my favourite characters.
