This one promises to be really interesting.  We have 32 main protagonists in this battle for you to have agonizing internal debates about.

The "Rules"
1) You cannot change your vote once you cast it so if you aren't sure then wait until you are sure.
2) If you have not read a series/book containing a character or if you do not have strong feelings for one of the characters, feel free to abstain from the battle.
3) Have fun, discuss, and maybe discover something new.

The bracket is listed below and use this thread for any general discussion.

You will see that instead of book covers that I'm putting in quotes.  Please feel free to put some of your favorite quotes in each battle that I could use later down the road.  Also, if you know of any good places to get quotes let me know.  I used Goodreads for a lot of the ones I listed but for the books that I have not read I had trouble identifying if the quote listed there was about a character (or something they said) or if it was about someone else.

Also, could we get this thread stickied?

If you think Round 1 is going to be hard, extrapolate your picks out to Round 2 and see how it goes.

Gonna be some serious "no idea who that is" vs. "that's sort of/very familiar."
And I don;t think I'll abstain at all.
If I've never heard of either character, I'll just go off the quotes Hedin chose! ;D

Now I'm going to have to dig through my favorite characters and make sure I pick the proper quotes to set them above everyone else.

I'm theorizing a win for Jorg. Or maybe it'll come down to Jorg VS. Glokta. They're both so awesome!

The only match up that would cause me trouble is the likely match-up between Vimes and Tyrion Lannister. That one will be hard.

It's gonna be Locke v Jorg at some point, if Jorg wins I'm gonna riot.  :-[

I'm looking for a run deep into the tournament by.... Tyrion.
