Read NOS4A2 and it was one of the most boring and dredging books I've ever read.  It will be a long time before I read another Joe Hill novel.
Really? I loved Horns and  I've heard really good things about NOS4A2,  that its even better than Horns from multiple people. Oh well, lots of different styles and preferences out there, so nothing is going to go over well with everyone. Hoping it still lives up to my expectations. :)

For the first time in a very long time - I only have my next two lined up :)

Aurora: Darwin by Amanda Bridgeman
A Feast for Crows by George R R Martin

And then I’ll be on the lookout :)

I've only read Locke and Key by Joe Hill, which I quite liked, but I am looking forward to NOS4R2. So hopefully I'll get some time to read it.
I will expand your TBR pile.

I thought the preview for NOS4R2 was pretty chilling and I've never really read King or his sons before but that book is a tome for a horror story.

Slight bump, actually making a next-5 list in the hopes that I'll not spend days deciding what to read next. Think I'm going to go on a streak of new releases with the few NetGalley eARCS I have, so:

God of War - Christian Cameron - a paperback because I need a beach book for vacation and it's been way too long since I've held a real book in my hands as opposed to my Kindle.
The Thousand Names - Django Wexler - another paperback ARC I've been putting off til around release

and my NetGalley eARCS:

The Darwin Elevator - Jason M. Hough
The Age of Ice - J.M. Sidorova - heard really mixed things about this, I'm hoping it's as 'enchanting' as it claims
Three - Jay Posey

Hopefully I'll read this in this order instead of spending days reading reviews instead of just jumping in.

July is shaping up to be a damn good month for releases.

Planning to go on a short Sci-Fi tear for my next four books.

1) Snow Crash - Neal Stephenson
2) Old Man's War - John Scalzi
3) Hyperion - Dan Simmons
4) Century Rain - Alastair Reynolds
The a gear change back into fantasy for...
5) Red Seas Under Red Skies - Scott Lynch. Just in time to catch up for Republic of Thieves.
My debut fantasy novel, Valkwitch, is now released in ebook form! Neato!

Right, I'm in the middle of Forge of Darkness, by Steven Erikson at the moment.
after that...
The second and third of Ian C Esslemont's Malazan Books,
the most recent Terry Pratchett (actually, there's a couple I think)
I might have a go at the second of the Apt books by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I quite enjoyed the first, not amazed, but maybe worth having a crack at the next one.
Ooh, then the latest Joe Abercrombie, very excited about that.
Other than that, I'm after a new author. I'm finding it tough to find people up to the standard of Erikson, Martin and Abercrombie in recent times.
Any suggestions?
Cheers :)

Finished four out of the six last time. I'm giving up putting these five (six) in any particular order. I'll finish them when I finish them.

0. The Thousand Names by Django Wexler (Currently reading)
1. The Republic of Thieves by Scott Lynch (Also Currently reading)
2. Three by Jay Posey
3. Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
4. The Heresy Within by Rob J Hayes
5. Best Kept Secret by Jeffrey Archer

This set is looking to be the best lineup of the year. ;D

Okay let's start a new list! I'm hoping to read these:

1. Horns
2. Wizard of Earthsea
3. Court of Air
4. River of Stars
5. Alchemy of Stone

But there are a couple other review books and many steampunks to get reading this month.

0. Range of Ghosts
1. The Ocean at the End of the Lane
2. Old Man's War
3. The Crimson Shield
4. Midnight Riot/Rivers of London
5. Blood of the Mantis

4 and 5 are subject to change and having just started Range of Ghosts I'm finding it hard to concentrate on it. Not sure if it's the book itself or just me.

I have a massive "to read" shelf...

1. Best Served Cold
2. Mirror, Mirror
3. Red Seas Under Red Skies
4. Out of the Silent Planet
5. Shadow of Night

I like to mix it up.
'tsundoku' - (n) buying books & not reading them, leaving them to pile up on shelves, floors and night stands

  • Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le Guin - currently reading
  • The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman - current audiobook
  • NOS4A2 by Joe Hill
  • Whitefire Crossing by Courtney Schafer
  • The Time of the Dark by Barbara Hambly
  • August's SciFi book

I'm doing better at this!

OK, next 5:

  • Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson
  • Emperor of Thorns by Mark Lawrence
  • The Troop by Nick Cutter
  • The Folding Knife by K. J. Parker
  • I am Legend by Richard Matheson

Maybe not in that order, may replace The Troop with something else, will see what I feel like when the time comes.

*Merchant of Dreams
*The Last Dragonslayer
*Trinity Rising
*Fade to Black
*The City's Son

Well that was a bit pathetic. Only managed 2!!

So next 5 should look something like....

- The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland...etc  (started)
- The Lives of Tao
- The Dragon's Path
- Herald of the Storm
- Dragonflight (or maybe The Eyre Affair, depends on mood)

I might try and squeeze in Throne of Glass and Daughter of Smoke & Bone in between some of those though.
