Mine seem to be the books by:

G.W. Dahlquist, Mark Hodder, some William Horwood, 'Stormcaller' the first Tom Lloyd book (all the others have a higher average), some Anne Rice and Jen William' 'Ninth Rain' (!)

all with an avg of 3.5 on LT.

I sorted my Read list through average rating and it was quite a surprise: The Copper Promise from Jen Williams has a 3.63 (gave it a 5*) and Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer with a 3.64 (gave it a 4*). Can't understand the scores for these two books. Annihilation is even gonna become a movie next year.

On the other hand, the highest rated books that really didn't work for me are American Gods by Neil Gaiman with a 4.11 (gave it a 2*) and Binti by Nnedi Okorafor with a 4.03 (gave it a 1*).

The deeds of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon 4.29 (2 stars)

Guards! Guards!by Terry Pratchett 4.32 (1 star)

My reading list didn't load entirely...

Actually my top rated that didn't work for me are also The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon with 4.29 (also gave it a 2*) and Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb with a 4.18 (gave it a 2*).

I have higher rated books with 2* as well like Morning Star by Pierce Brown (with a 4.50) but some were books that I actually enjoyed for a good deal of them until one or other major slip by the authors that almost destroyed it, but those two I really struggled all throughout.

Mythago Wood, Daggerspell and Heart of Granite are my lowest rated 5 stars.

Can't do highest rated 2 stars as I don't finish books headed to 2 stars.

My favourite low-average books seem to be Justine Larbalestier's Liar (I gave it 5*, average is 3.3) which I understand. It is a twisty tangle of a book, which was part of the appeal for me, but really isn't for everyone. Also appearing are the books of Aiden Harte's Wave Trilogy (starting with Irenicon) which I really enjoyed for their wild alternihistory ideas, but I'm sure they don't quite hit the epic-fantasy spot for a lot of readers. They are heavy on ideas and style.

In terms of my least favourite high-rated books, there's The Name of the Wind which I only gave 3 stars (average 4.55), or Brian McClellan's The Crimson Campaign which I got so angry about I'm surprised I finished it. (Me: 2 stars; everyone else: 4.35.) Which brings me to Peat's point about DNFing books that low, so I checked my DNF shelf as well (I keep track so I know what I've tried and failed at). Deed of Paksenarion ends up there for me (3 stars overall; I quite liked the first part), along with some big names of YA fantasy - Cassandra Clare, Sarah J Maas - and some big fantasy names, like Michael Sullivan and Brent Weeks.

Don’t worry @cupiscent I wouldn’t have liked the Crimson Campaign if I had read it as I DNF Promise of Blood and I’m not keen on Michael Sullivan either and I doubt if I will read any more Mark Lawrence I find his endings to trilogies weak ....I sound like I hate Fantasy..... it’s not true!

Please can you tell me where to find the My Year in Books on GR? I saw it once and since then it seems to have disappeared. Where does it appear for you?  Have been only able to work on ipad GR lately could that be the reason?

Right topic but wrong idea. Thought you were working on the personal two stats it  gives you about how your two books relates to GR averages, that I can't explain better because I can't find it  :o  Thank you now I realise what you have been basing it on and will check out properly.
