So I'm resurrecting this thread to bring you all a classic: Swords in the Mist by Fritz Leiber.

And now I have to know...does this actually happen in the book??

I'm not sure if I have read that actual story A2M, but I have read some of them and yes it is entirely possible that's an illustration from one.

I've read most of them, but it was a long, long time ago so I can't remember tbh. I just want to know why Fafhrd is wearing a nappy!

Annd once again, audio books deface Scott Lynch's work with yet another horrid, yet laughable, I can't believe it's not from the eighties cover:

ETA: scratch that, her hair's not big enough for the eighties. Maybe I should have said 90s.

Oh dear god that's awful! Could they not get permission to use the original book cover? It's such a gorgeous cover too - that one looks like a self-pub effort!

Poor Scott! Poor Michael Page! (He narrated my first two books as well. I think he was too busy working on RoT to do The Prince of Lies :( )

That is awful.  :(  Bland text on a black background would be better!

Speaking of black background. Just incase you missed this detail, they changed one strip of her shirt to black, I assume to make the awesome sword more visible.

I think Mark Lawrence was pretty unhappy with his too (I could be wrong)

His were rather poor, especially compared to his actual covers which are amazing. But they are not this level of horrendous. I think not having people one them helps.

That brings to mind a comment Scott made in an interview once about wonderful books, but with covers that look like they were designed by chimpanzees on drugs.

That is truly appalling. It looks like one of those semi-pirate DVDs you find in convenience stores for 99 cents.

After combing through the posts here, I think you guys are confused.

The original poster wanted the worst fantasy covers, not the best ones!

Maybe... they're so bad... that makes them good.

Well, the hard-boozing, hard-adventuring lifestyle takes its toll on a person!
I'd like to say I'm a writer, but that would occasionally require product. As it stands, I'm just a dreamer with a big mouth and poor time management.

Not really a Captain, I bought the rank used off eBay.
