I remember why that Hobbit seems so familiar,  that was the copy the school had us check out and read when the Hobbit was assigned in eighth grade.

And while we're on the subject of bad Tolkien covers

And this would be the series I have. XD When I moved out I stole this set from him because my second choice was the other set. XD I actually kind of like The Two Towers art in this set. But I think that's because you can't see any of the characters very well. ;)

Also the eagle on The Hobbit cover is totally going to eat them all. o.o

I'm very surprised some of the Michael Moorcock covers didn't make it. Great author, some of his cover art is pretty crappy.

This is Levi's weirdest ever commercial.

Well, there is a sort of tower/castle thing in the book, so I guess it's ALMOST accurate to... something within the book.

I don't even... what?

I'd like to say I'm a writer, but that would occasionally require product. As it stands, I'm just a dreamer with a big mouth and poor time management.

Not really a Captain, I bought the rank used off eBay.

The last one......mind. Blown. I got given an Elric omnibus today, the cover on that is pretty awfully drawn. But nothing even close to those!
They're just....wow. That makes my Elric cover look positively amazing in comparison.

The strange thing about 'Fat Buddah riding a horse of flames' is that it's a political novel in the future.

Michael Moorcock's covers have ranged from pretty good (Michael Whaelen and the Del Rey omnibuses of the last few years.) to 'Really bad LP covers for strange metal bands.'

Admittedly, I do have a soft spot for this one, although if only the novel itself were as metal.

I think this cover though... a damn sight better than the novel it used to adorn. Partially because Goodkind turned around to say 'My books aren't fantasy, they're about people' or some such bullcrap, I'm putting it up here. The new cover, pretty but bland.

This one certainly isn't going to win 'worst' when competing with many of the ones already shown, but seemed worth as mention.

Are they running some clone zoo on a spaceship? It's got lots of cats, a unicorn, a dinosaur, a gorilla (or maybe it's King Kong?), a turtle, a couple of thing I can't figure out what they are...and some guy chillin in his captains chair (with another cat in his lap). At least that's what it looks like to me. I don't know anything about the book. Maybe the cover is perfect for it. ???

Actually, yes, yes he is.

The main character really likes cats as well.

HA! That Fat Bilbo cover is the edition I read when I first read The Hobbit. Memories.
I now have a much nicer hardcover from the the 60's in my collection.

I don't know what you people are talking about in this thread. These covers aren't terrible, they're AH-MAZING.
My debut fantasy novel, Valkwitch, is now released in ebook form! Neato!
You can find more info and the first two chapters Here.

I think he's on a few more as well.

That's Hooded Man, perhaps the hardest-working model in fantasy today if one discounts Geralt of Rivia. They say no one has ever seen his face, and that he can brood with such ferocity readers can literally feel the mystique emanating from the pages.
