More succubuses!! Or is it succubi?  I like the way they suck

hmmmm, a theme is developing here.  People here seem to want more sexually promiscuous females and seagulls .... maybe I should write some pirate erotica!
Didn't Scott Lynch do a bit of that in Red Seas Under Red Skies?

Nah that was more Carry on Pirating

I think trolls could have some potential.
We are not standing on the shoulders of giants, but on a big tower of other dwarves.

We recently interviewed David Tallerman and discussed with him the fact that Giants kind of disappeared from Fantasy Literature for a while. I guess, in hindsight, they are more folklore and fairytale, but still - I would have expected more of them to enter books than actually have. It seems to me that Elves and Dragons have maintained the best presence in novels so far... but what fantasy races do you think should make more appearances?

Bring back giants!

John Gwynne has giants in Faithful and the Fallen. I believe Kevin Hearne's new series, which I've blanked on the name for, is also about giants.

It's off, because on the face of it 'large humans' don't seem particularly interesting, and yet there are a bunch of  different ways to approach them.

Giants are a curious race who can be on both the good and evil sides with equal ease. Portray a good troll and it'll be called subverting the trope, but somehow Giants seem to be above those tropes. Good, evil, cunning, helpful...they are probably the most versatile race other than Humans and Dragons.

Maybe a Formula One race with different fantasy creatures racing for each team. Elves and Ferrari seem like a good combination.

More giants. And also giant spiders, like in 'Spiderlight' I love giant spiders. And lizard people. Lizard people are great.

'Black Leopard Red Wolf' also has quite a few creatures from African folklore and uses them really well.

Dragons and elves are a bit overdone, IMO. The fae used to be a bit thin on the ground, but not anymore.

But people keep asking where have all the elves gone 😁

Now that you mention it, they don't seem to be around like they used to. I have to say I don't much miss them. The only time I liked elves was the Silmarilion, where Tolkien revealed how awful they could be.

I quite liked the svartelves in Elizabeth Boyer’s books, largely because in behaviour they were very different from the Tolkienish elves.
