Just started Nnedi Okorafor's Lagoon, and then onto NK Jemisin's The Fifth Season. It has been a while since I dived into foreign culture worldviews, so looking forward to these.

Oh, I missed this thread. I'm reading Foundation by Asimov. Feels shallow as of 35% in, let's see how it continues.
Kallor shrugged. 'I've walked this land when the T'lan Imass were but children. I've commanded armies a hundred thousand strong. I've spread the fire of my wrath across entire continents, and sat alone upon tall thrones. Do you grasp the meaning of this?'

'Yes' said Caladan Brood. 'You never learn'

Is The Fifth Season fantasy or sci fi?  Been high up on my TBR pile for ages.

I'd call it fantasy (and it's great!)

It's a mix of both, but the existence of literal magic swings it to fantasy as far as I'm concerned. It's definitely marketed as fantasy too, for whatever that's worth.

I'm currently reading Murderbot #2: Artificial Condition.

I've got a box set of the hardback copies in order, but the shipping date has been pushed back at least 3 times now.  :(

You guys are enticing me with your murderbots.  Am I right the first book is All Systems Red and is a novella?

Yep! I think there are about five novellas, and then a recently-released novel.

The Chinatown Death Cloud Peril more like a pulp detective story, but with some scifi/horror overtones. The authors of Doc Savage and The Shadow are looking into the murder of HP Lovecraft

I read Firewalkers, a novella by Adrian Tchaikovsky last night; it's only 184 pages, so easy to do in one sitting.

Today I've started Recursion by Blake Crouch. I really liked Dark Matter, so have high hopes for this.

Santiago: Myth of Far Future by Mike Resnick. Will start just after I finish current book, so probably tomorrow.

Finished Blindsight by Peter Watts. Hard sci-fi, but basically questioning consciousness. But I have to warn you, the book is divisive. You either love it or hate it to the core.
