How many of us are reading or have just finished The Copper Promise? If I count myself I think there's 4 of us at present: me, @Jmacyk, @xiagan and @Lady Ty. Is that some sort of a record for something that isn't a book club read?
It's the Copper Promise movement, and it's sweeping the nation, er, forum.  ;D

That was so 2014. 2015 is the year of The Iron Ghost movement  ;) (will be buying it next month or so!)

Finished A Betrayal in Winter last night, and will move on to An Autumn War (book #3), as well as get started on Wee Free Men for this month's book club!
How're you finding the Long Price? I loved those books, but so many people seem to find them too slow and/or confusing  :-\

I have really enjoyed the first two books, and I am eager to get into the third. The beginning of the first one did feel slow and a bit confusing, but when things got going it became really enjoyable.

Idaan's character in A Betrayal in Winter was particularly fascinating, and a great example of a feminist character in a fantasy novel, as her struggle was all about being born a woman in a world meant for men. The way the plot worked also felt very satisfying. Let's see if the next two are as good or even better :)
Cool! I thought the last two books were better than the first two actually, hopefully you enjoy them too :D

The last two books were my favorites in the Long Price Quartet. The first book was a bit confusing at first, but once I understood the world, I really enjoyed the series. I also like how each book jumps ahead quite a few years, giving you a long history of the characters and the world.

Yeah that was one of my favourite aspects for sure.

Finished that excerpt of When the Heavens Fall. Only about 50-75 pages, but I'm already excited. Very evocative and atmospheric, like there's a whole history to unfold from the story.

Hoping to start Depth by Lev Rosen sometime this week. Climate change noir sounds interesting.

What, you don't already have one in a hidden citadel somewhere, Jen? I thought The Copper Promise was an autobiography.

I'm a wee bit surprised, considering:

Currently reading Fred Saberhagen's First Book of Swords. There has been curiously little action in the book (I'm about 80% through). There's a lively fight at the beginning, followed by a whole lot of walking. Like about half the book. Then a fight with a dragon that cannot fly, plus supplementary thugs. Swords figure largely in the plot, but not a lot of swordplay. Weren't there twelve books in all?

The writing is solid, but I am having to push myself a bit to get through.

That cover is so misleading. This one is much better:

Oh, I finally finished The Iron Goat.  Not sure why it took so long, as all very exciting, and the characters all so well drawn. Just term time tiredness.  Well done, and highly recommended to everyone.
