Reading the first book of the Ketty Jay series. The story is great, don't get me wrong, but there's some elements about the story that kind of irked me somewhat. There seemed to be quite some criticism of religion on the author's part, especially where he mentioned something around meditation being sitting down doing nothing required a lot of practice. Also there is a particular race in the story with squinty eyes that are good at calculations (Asians?) which are a kind of slave. These kind of irked me a bit, despite the story's natural flow, and I had to ask if there would be something like these beyond these points in the story?
