There are 7 planned books, but they're fairly self contained. The reader is given some sense of resolution.
I agree with this.
I've read the first 2 (I preferred the second, to be honest), and they can very much be read individually.

Agreed. I mean if someone told me The Lies of Locke Lamora is a standalone novel I would have believed it lol. Although book 4 taking an extremely long hiatus to come out is definitely bad for my heart.

By the way, The Bastards and the Knives (Gentlemen Bastards #0) is no longer planned for publication, is it?  :'( I was so happy when I saw the book on goodreads, less so with the comments below.

Reading Retribution Falls finally. Have to say that it's pure and utter CHEESE! I mean I'm enjoying it but my god it's deriative and you can see the twists coming a mile off and feel like the writer is constantly winking at you!

It gets better with the follow-ups. The characters are less caricature and more fleshed out, etc.

There was also a big gap between books 2 and 3. It is a shame given Scott's talents that personal issues have affected the publication of his works.
Unfortunately The Bastards and the Knives seems to have gone the way of good ideas that never happen.

Finished Record of a Spaceborn Few. Very good book. It's mostly filled with everyday life (in space) but so relatable and well written that you get a deep connection to those characters.

Next will be Infernal Battalion by Wexler. Final book in an amazing series that starts with the Thousand Names. :)

Wolfie, yep, the first book is like comfort reading, just fun and not much thought, but the others just get better and better :D

I'm back in the Greatcoats world, got the last 2 books out.
First, Saint's blood.

First was my favourite. I got a very Firefly feel from it and I loved Firefly, so that may have been it, although the fights between Pinn and Harker were always fun, and even Slag the cat was a cool character.

It was a disgrace that Firefly was cancelled! Such an awesome series even now!

I've started The Tower of Living and Dying and it starts off very strongly indeed. If it keeps up at this quality, it's a strong contender for book of the year.

Also, it marks my 100th book of the year. Go me.

Every 2.3 days a book? Impressive!

There are a fair few novellas and anthologies in there. But it has been a good year.

Yeah, the network didn't expect what Whedon delivered to them, didn't like it and did their best to ensure that it didn't survive.
