There are 7 planned books, but they're fairly self contained. The reader is given some sense of resolution.

Agreed. I mean if someone told me The Lies of Locke Lamora is a standalone novel I would have believed it lol. Although book 4 taking an extremely long hiatus to come out is definitely bad for my heart.
By the way, The Bastards and the Knives (Gentlemen Bastards #0) is no longer planned for publication, is it?
