Just over halfway through Prince of Fools. SO happy I gave Mark Lawrence a second chance! Absolutely loving the story so far, now, back to my book!
Yay! I'm reading the second book in that series, The Liar's Key, right now. It gets better too.  :D

Oh whoops! It's Thorns, definitely Thorns!
Although I am now considering giving Prince of Fools another go after I finish this trilogy.

Ah - Broken Empire is one of my absolute favourite series :D

It got me a while after that to then get into the Red Queen War series, but once there, I still enjoyed it - and yes, Liar's Key is better than Prince of Fools, and I can't wait for book 3 (7 days now!)

Thats good to hear! The timing certainly is right, perhaps reading it again without the high expectations I had going into it last time might make it more enjoyable? It wouldn't be the first time I've changed my mind after giving a book a second chance.

Read and finished Wolves of London by Mark Morris, not the usual thing I'd go for but I loved it. Now starting The Society of Blood.

About a quarter of the way into The Malice (Peter Newman) and enjoying it more than The Vagrant. A lot of that is just because I'm used to the style and more familiar with the world, but it's also got some interesting characters.

Finished The Liar's Key by Mark Lawrence. Enjoyed it a lot.

An excellent second act in Jalan and Snorri's story, and firmly cements Jalan's place in my mind as one of my favourite fantasy protagonist and also Lawrence's best (sorry Jorg fans).

A really interesting mix of ideas at times; the world continuing to grow in its depth and interest - especially the mysterious Wheel - I have theories. And Jalan's narrative is even more entertaining, and to me feels more concrete and confident in how he is written by Lawrence - at times in the first one his cowardice felt a little forced down your throat. He can really breathe and come into his own this time and there were far too many quotable lines to keep count of them.

Now reading: A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab

Am reading The Last Kingdom by Bernard Cornwell, so far so good. Can't beat a good tale about Vikings  :)

Just finished Hunted by Kevin Hearne. 4.5/5
The book started out really slow and seemed kind of pointless. Then there was this plot twist, but it turned out to be more annoying than anything else. However, what happened after that was way more entertaining, and washed away my complaints that would've made the book an average reading experience.

Now on to The Iron Druid Chronicles book 7. From the description, it looks just as awesome as Tricked was.

Just finished Sabriel by Garth Nix.

Would never have guessed Nix to be Aussie, he writes in such proper british English... All but for the one sentence where a soldier appeal to his fellow "blokes" and another aussie slang word after that.

Brilliant book. 6/5. Loved it. Can't believe I had it sitting on my ereader all these weeks without knowing what a gem it is.
There are 5 of these books too... So now I'm reading Lirael, the second one in the series.  :-*

Just finished The Emperor's Blades.   It's was OK but nothing really special, I'll read the other books at some point but I'm in no rush to do so.

Next up is The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet.

I finished Uprooted.
It did get better, and I gave it 4 stars, and it was nice and all - but I still wouldn't have voted it for best book of the year hehe

Now I'm not sure if I should go straight into Emperor's blades, and after all the comments see if it's a DNF and get it out of the way before having to renew the library check-out, or go read book 2 of a series I like first... ???

From everything I have heard the next two books after Emperor's Blades are a lot better.  The first one wasn't bad just a little meh for me.

Book two of the series you like of course. Always go with the next one in the series if you have to choose.

I think I'll do that, yes, but in reality it doesn't make a big difference because I read book 1 last year when it came out, also at the library.
It's by Rebecca Levene, who I believe is part of the 'pornokitsch gang', hehe
(@pornokitsch, is that true?)

I'll have to go find a 'memory refresher' online, about what happened in book 1, though...
