Technically it was no one because they didn't have rulers as such... when Caeser made himself ruler it was literally for about 5 minutes before he got stabbed for it. Romans hated the idea of one person having overall power. Anthony shared the rule of the Roman Empire with Octavian (around 34BC so very good!) before he killed himself in 30BC... Too many civil wars to even begin going further into it than that... ;)

meh, he was the named Imperii.  And Gauis Julius was actually emperor for a bit more than five minutes.   ;D And there were a couple of emperors who held on for quite a bit there….the triumvirate and Caesar/Augustus hooey not withstanding.  (hey, this is stuff I know….)

:P Yeah... I will take your word for it because you obviously know more than me ;) I just know about Cleopatra/Anthony type era because I'm studying it... Whatever the case; Rome was very much against overall rule and every time someone tried it things got messy =/ It must have been a pretty scary time to live because of all the war... it seems endless... even worse a good part of it was civil war too right?

I started (and finished) The Horse and his Boy this evening. I think that is one of my favourites in the set. Now just to decide which one to read next.
Narnia is like comfort food. It's a bit sweet and gooey, but sometimes it's just irresistable.

Cleopatra is an interesting woman.  There you go, authors.  Fantasy novel during the Roman imperium.  That I would read.

Just finished "The lost Gate" by Orson Scott Card and I enjoyed it a lot! Gonna go and find more of him to read.
Now starting on "the windup girl". Curious what that will be, with all the award-winning and so on...

Right now I'm reading Shadow's Edge by Brent Weeks. After this series I'm debating on picking up something by Brandon Sanderson, or looking at some indie stuff that I'm coming across from Twitter friends.  (It depends on if I splurge and get a Kindle  ;) )

OOOH!  That would be good.  Although if it's before June, it won't get read, since I'm on the last push of my dissertation!

Going to start Magician: Master by Feist tonight. Everyone seems to really love it. I didn't think Apprentice was to die for, but apparently this one is the better of his, so I'm ready to dive back into the Midcymia.

Indeed.  Medieval Europeanist by trade, pre-modern everything by dint of needing to get paid.

I finally finished The Book of Ti'ana. I don't get much time to read; mostly when I'm at work, and even that isn't very much. So I'm working on World War Z by Max Brooks right now, which is FANTASTIC. This man is a freaking genius.

Next on my list is another slow read-through of Feed by Mira Grant, before starting The Name of the Wind for the book club. That'll be my big focus next month, since I haven't read it yet. :)
