Finished The Bear and The Nigtingale. I think I'm going to start Beyond the Shadows (Night Angel Trilogy #3) and finish the series.

I'm at 1300 pages this month and have already completey my monthly target :)

Ah. The book that made me remembered Brent Weeks as the author to never touch again. Good old memories, those.

I've finished reading Song of Susannah (Dark Tower #6). It's a pretty good book, there is that one part though where the characters went to meet Stephen King, and that was one hell of a trippy scene. I've always thought of the Dark Tower as a fantasy series only someone who is high/ stoned/ or tripped up on acid would have written though, so it doesn't really comes as a surprise.

Now powering forward to the last book The Dark Tower, the last book in the Dark Tower series.

I finished City of miracles, the last book in the trilogy.
It was good, and it was a great ending, but my favourites in order are still 2 (despite the Shara hangover hehe), 1 and 3. I don't think I ever got *really* into the story of this one, emotionally involved and all that.
Still, an amazing series that I will definitely start recommending!

Finished reading the trilogy

My favourites in order   are 3,1,2

Yay reverse order  ;D

We need a second opinion @isos81 hurry up and read the rest 😛

Every book we read confirms the rule ;D

As for the second opinion, I know @cupiscent has read the trilogy too: what's your favourite book order?

Finished God Of Broken Things. Hats off to you @CameronJohnston that was one smashing read. Probably the tipping point to get my reading ball rolling.

The books picks up nicely from where the predecessor left off and takes things to a whole new level. I enjoyed Traitor God, but this is a level better.

Edrin's character is well etched to suit a good man whose mind and body has gone through a tumultuous time in hands of everyone from Byzant to his Grandma! A superb blend of good without being self-righteous, right at the edge of evil, but self aware enough to recognize his flaws but armoured with his best weapon, bad sarcasm.

The world gets better and magic wilder. The way mind magic is used is quite novel and the passive use to boost people's own feelings...I loved it. Both in first book and this, the use of near-moders curse terms was a bit jarring, but once you get to know Edrin...it just fits.

The parasite reminded me of the Goa'uld from Stargate series and reversed trope of Ogre's was cherry on the cake.

Overall a very nice read. Recommended!

YASSS! So glad you enjoyed it :D

Got to know about a book called Apocalypse Cow, which is supposed to dark humour book on infested cows and other garden/domestic animals and group of humans trying to survive them.

Rabid squirrels and bovines with glowing eyes. I'm intrigued. Starting now!

@CameronJohnston why does the character on cover of your second book have a Japanese armour and sword? Who does that represent?

I finished Wolf Moon by Ian McDonald. I mostly enjoyed it, and look forward to reading the third book.

I moved on to Red Moon and Black Mountain by Joy Chant, a Mythopoeic-winning children's fantasy from 1970 I don't really know much about. Turns out it's a portal fantasy, but that's about all I know so far. This was a chance find in a charity shop late last year.

Reading Sunshine by Robin McKinley. What can I say? I'm sucker for vampires (as long as they are not sparkly Twillight kind).

Earlier this month, I finished Soulsmith by Will Wight. I enjoyed it, but I'm still not enjoying this series quite as much as his Traveler's Gate trilogy.

Right now, I'm reading The Shadow King by Alec Hutson, the final book of the trilogy that started with The Crimson Queen. As usual, it's a great read.

Reading "King's Warrior" by Jenelle Leanne Schmidt. Thought I'd take a punt on an indie author this New Year. As a pathologically hard-to-please reader, this is usually a road to disappointment but this book, while not perfect, is not bad either. It's trope-rich comfort-blanket lords'n'swords fantasy - quests, royalty, dragons, chosen-one farmboys, looming invasion but to be honest that's exactly what I need at this point in time. I can even forgive the abundance of comma-splices, and I never do that, as that's one SPaG nit that usually sends me in to a berserkers' battle trance :)
