I ended up re-reading Erin Morgenstein's The Night Circus.

Next up I've gone for another short book in an attempt to shore up my figures for February, The Grey King by Susan Cooper (Dark is Rising #4). It would be nice to get this series finished this year. And I've only just realised that I've gone from the black prince to the grey king.
I finished The Grey King last night. Maybe a bit later than was ideal but, you know, I was near the end. It was quite good, but I don't think I'm really appreciating this classic children's series.

That's two books in 4 days, which is pretty good going for me, even if they were both short. (The Grey King is only 120 pages in the omnibus edition I have, although I think that would convert to 160-180 normal-sized pages.)

Anyway, I'm not actually sure what's next. My next fantasy book is probably going to be Blackwing by Ed McDonald, but I like to alternate genres so I want to read something else first. Probably SF. Maybe either Europe at Dawn (Fractured Europe #4) or Shelter (Aftermath #1) by Dave Hutchinson. My head says I should finish the former series before starting the latter, but I might be more in the mood for the latter.

funnily enough I started Blackwing Last night  and am 175 pages in. Strangely enough I am not getting much done at the moment.

I'm hoping I can get back to reading more soon. I've got a three-day weekend (no work, no school), so I should hopefully have some time to read (assuming I'm not distracted by video games, or by my own books that I should be writing or editing, or by the test I should study for).

Life is nothing but distractions.

Well, I was just about to post that I'd started Firefight, but then gone and finished it before I could put that down. I practically breeze through this book as well, and maybe even more so than the first book. Megan and David are definitely becoming one of my favorite YA couples. I couldn't stop reading through the parts where they got together and thereafter, eager to know what interesting situations they're going to get themselves into next.  ;D

I used to compare this series to Mistborn due to the plot of the first book, but that is no longer the case and I'm totally in loved with the Reckoners.

I now decided to start re-reading Mark Lawrence's Red Sister, and read the whole trilogy in one go.

I'm pretty sure it will feel much better, now that I have the right expectation of not being another Jorg/Jalan, I just love his writing.

(and honestly, with the usual state of my memory, I started this afternoon and there were already a bunch of things I didn't remember ::) )

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
@Nighteyes, I love that trilogy! And once you're finished, recommend it to all your students ;D

It is slightly too old for my students. I'd say more for secondary school children. Great book though: I have The Ask and the Answer lined up to read now.

I'd love to see a movie version of those books. It would be a lot of fun.

I just finished The Infernal Battalion by Django Wexler. Overall, I thought it was a satisfying conclusion to the series, and it left me in a good mood.

Finished Stardust - never imagined it to be such a conventional fairy tale. Mostly feels like it was written in the late 19th / early 20th century, and because I hadn't read anything like that in a long while, I found it charming. Definitely not one of my Gaiman's favourites, though.
