Anyone read his Twilight Reign series yet. I just started Stormcaller, its looking good so far, I'm really enjoying it.

I saw them on the shores
the deepening pits of their gaze
vowed immortal war
against the sighing calm
of Jaghut seas . . .

I enjoyed Stormcaller, and read the next 2 or 3 books. Unfortunately I think this is a case of him spending a lot of time on the first book or two and then getting a publishing deal and then rushed out the last few books. They become a little incoherent and hard to follow with all the various characters rushing around without much focus or explanation.

(sorry to ressurect this thread)

You think?
I thought the last 2 were quite good, very different from the direction that was expected/indicated on book 1. I read 1-4 in one go, and then had to wait a few months for 5, but I still think that it's an amazing series.
My favourite though is still book 2: the containment of Scree, all the expectation.
I'm sure when I re-read them all many things will make even more sense.

Oh! Stormcaller rocks. A new/original fantasy idea or metaphor on every page. Loved it... it restored my faith in the genre, that it wasn't dying cos it had been bitten by some sparkly vampire. Book 2 was very different to Book 1. And then 3 was different again! This author is something strange and special. Can't wait to see him at World Fantasy Con in Brighton at the end of Oct 2013! Gotta shake his hand and channel some of his magic.

Resurrecting another old thread, because I've just finished reading his second series (second book), Old man's ghosts.

This is hard for me to write, because I loved his first series (Twilight Reign), as I wrote above, and then also when he decided to go somewhere different, more contained, in Moon's artifice.
However this one didn't quite grab me.
I don't know if it was the timing of the reading, my state of mind over the last week, but I kept getting distracted and not really diving into the story - I was never able to be fully involved.
I'm very much a character-driven reader (with action, of course, not just psychological treaties), and I feel this book was very light on that - despite the fact of letting us know much more of Enchei's past. Lots of demons, of fights, and strange politics, never quite fully developed.

I do hope this was just a blip in Tom's books, and the new series changes again.
I'll wait with trepidation...
