I know this book has had a lot of bad reviews but for me I’m enjoying it immensely.

It actually feels like the book it self is magical with the style it is written in. I think some reviewers just can’t handle the style.

Nah, we both really liked her other book, Night Circus

I always find it odd how many @cupiscent books overlap  on my tbr list. I read military fantasy and she reads YA mostly haha.

I dunno about mostly, though I do seem to read a lot more YA than most folks here. My tastes do seem to be drifting away from "mainstream" fantasy though, yes.

For mine... well, I was slightly underwhelmed by The Night Circus but it was certainly a very accomplished book, so I'm curious about the new one, but not rushing to get hold of it.

I feel it’s as magical as the night circus

It’s a totally different story to the night circus it’s not a sequel.

I feel non fantasy fans would struggle with it.

It feels like a love letter to storytellers

The story felt very magical almost like a fairy tale. The writing style felt very beautiful too it reminded me of The City of Silk and Steel which also feels like a fairy tale.

It’s like a story which has been passed down through the generations and time. With each retelling it evolves into a new tale yet stays the same.
