I was in York the other week, and found myself thinking of all the parallels between the War of the Roses and ASOIAF.  Certainly all there!

There's a lot of Scottish, Welsh, French and Burgundian history in there too - it's definitely a mish-mash of about 5 centuries of European history with dragons thrown in the mix.

The bbc website irritates me whenever I see it. They seem to believe that "sentence" is synonymous with "paragraph".  >:(
