Heard a bit of the Vagrant a couple of weeks ago at SRFC and seems like its going to get a lot of buzz on these forums.
I was at the SRFC too!
Ooooohhh. Who were you?
Wolfie, check Geoff's face in my photos - it might make you remember :)

I am 250 pages in. I believe this book will do very well and suspect there will be a best newcomer award if nothing else for Peter. It has been a Wonderfulstrange book so far.
Just pre-ordered from Amazon U.S. No release date given.
So, asked and answered!

Now, back to the OP about GG!
Sorry for the detour.   ;D

Still clueless. Will look out for him at future SRFCs.

I was me at the SRFC :) I have now been to two of them!

Wrote this article for FF about the first one: http://fantasy-faction.com/2015/the-super-relaxed-fantasy-club and my handsome photo is at the bottom. (admittedly, it doesn't look too much like me :) ) or there is this https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7372090.G_R_Matthews from my Goodreads Author page (in which I look slightly puzzled - Steve Austin without the bionic implants (which is a comment that just cemented my aged status)).

Peter Newman certainly had good things to say at the panel (up against a bunch of veterans), which made me less sceptical about his book (first impressions reminded me too much of other things, probably unfairly and based on very little info!).  I probably should have taken the golden opportunity to get an early copy!

Overall the thing that stood out about the panel is how varied their answers were on how they worked and approached things conceptually--lessened the fear of 'doing things wrong', as it were. :)

Had a good time, only wish I'd introduced myself to more of the people I think I recognised. Next time!

Steff's is very good, reminded me of lots of funny things I'd forgotten, and that's only part one of it.

^ Agree!
And her mentioning the 'bin grimdark' conversation reminded me of when after a long while into the conversation Peat finally said "oh, when you use 'bin' here, you mean 'trash can'?" ;D

Yeah, that took me awhile.
"bin Grimdark" = "Trashy Grimdark".  :)

Yes, it reflects the time before Grimdark was 'fashionable' and sold books.
