MOST ANTICIPATED BOOKS OF 2016?
« on: December 11, 2015, 09:56:32 AM »
It's coming up to the end of 2015, can you believe? Well, whether you do or not... it's here and that means the 2015 publishing schedule is now just about complete...

Looking ahead then, which books are you most looking forward to reading in 2016?

* The wheel of Osheim - Mark Lawrence
* The silver tide - Jen Williams
* The blood mirror (?) - Brent Weeks
* The core - Peter V. Brett

I can't say more because a/ I don't know what's coming in 2016, and b/ these are the ones I *really* need to finish the story ;D

Very good choices. Similar to my own. I think, if we are doing the mainstream and super popular titles first, we should mention these three and get them out the way (although, that said, not 100% any will make it out in 2016, are we?)!

* The Thorn of Emberlain - Scott Lynch
* The Winds of Winter - George R.R. Martin
* Doors of Stone - Patrick Rothfuss

Apart from the first, which I think has a chance, do you REALLY think the others will come out in 2016? ;) I'll include them in the 2020 list and that's if we're lucky ;D

I saw your edit, but it's so not close to 100% that even saying that I thought you were being too optimistic ;D
(it's more a 0.00000000001% chance - maybe lower ;))

The Swallow's Tower gets an english release next year. After 19 years. I could also read the German translation, but still nice.

There is nothing to read!

Age of Myth by Michael J. Sullivan
Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson
Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson
Assassin's Fate by Robin Hobb

Does anyone have a handy list of major upcoming releases? I swear there were some more but I can't think of any others...  :-\

In very rough order that would likely be different 10 minutes after I post this:

Blood Mirror - Brent Weeks
Oathbringer - Brandon Sanderson
Bands of Mourning - Brandon Sanderson
Jim Butcher - Peace Talks
Fall of Light - Steven Erikson
City of Blades - Robert Jackson Bennett
The Thorn of Emberlain - Scott Lynch (hopefully? maybe? who knows?)
Guns of the Empire - Django Wexler

Jim Butcher, Peace Talks
Patrick Rothfuss, Doors of Stone

Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer

and, I guess, maybe, GRR Martin.  But the gaps are long enough I'm starting to lose interest...

The Spider's War, Daniel Abraham

Fall of Light, Steven Erikson

Oathbringer Brandon Sanderson

Babylon's Ashes, James S.A. Corey

Also, Winds of Winter, yeah but who knows when that'll ever be finished?

I'm sure I'm forgetting at least one, too.
The bones of beasts and the bones of kings
Become dust in the wake of the hymn
Mighty kingdoms rise, but they all will fall
No more than a breath on the wind

Books I'm looking forward too are

The Thorn of Emberlain

Over Your Dead Body (John Cleaver #5) by Dan Wells

Burned (Alex Verus #7) by Benedict Jacka

Staked (The Iron Druid Chronicles #8) by Kevin Hearne

Fall of Light (The Kharkanas Trilogy #2) by Steven Erikson
I'm Saloninus, by the way. And I tell lies, from time to time. Which goes to prove the old rule; never entirely trust a man who talks about himself in the third person.

Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson. It'll probably just sneak in toward the end of the year.

Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson.

Calamity by Brandon Sanderson.

The Dark Talent by Brandon Sanderson (the last Alcatraz MG book).

The Thorn of Emberlain by Scott Lynch.

The Blood Mirror by Brent Weeks.

Age of Myth by Michael J. Sullivan.

The Last Mortal Bond by Brian Staveley.

The Lost Metal by Brandon Sanderson (though I'm wondering if he can really put out that many books in one year).

City of Blades by Robert Jackson Bennett.

The Spider's War by Daniel Abraham.

The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin.

The Olympian Affair (Cinder Spires book two) by Jim Butcher.

There are probably more. This is just what I saw going through the top 100 on Goodreads most anticipated SFF for 2016 (well, I added one of the Sanderson books myself).

Definitely won't be out next year. I remember reading that there's a chance he might finish off the third book in the new Wax & Wayne trilogy in time for it to be released this year, but that might be out of date info too. Would be awesome if he did though.  :-\

I honestly doubt it'll come out this coming year, but I'll echo earlier posts and say I'm hoping for Rothfuss' The Doors of Stone.

But I'm not holding my breath.
