Came across an article on unreliable narrators and thought about Sixteen Ways to Defend Walled City.

Facebook is a raging river. All you see is water and more water. It's like a dozen comments and dozen books all getting rinsed and repeated again. I still venture, but if I see a post having more than 10 replies, I don't contribute.

I'm not a fan of unreliable narrators in books. It's like getting a second hand summary version of the book. I don't really see the charm in that.

Which book is this comment for, Bender?

On a random comment, I see how shut down the fantasy genre still is when I venture a peak at the facebook group and see everyone asking about the exact same books over and over, or saying that "fantasy stories are all based on medieval european times" - I assumed we'd moved from that one a good 5 years ago, most books now are not related to that at all...

(it's a horrid place anyway - in the sense of not making sense the order, the comments, the fonts... I'm not going back)

I decided to order some books, including RJ Barker's new ones: just my luck the first is being reprinted. I wasn't really planning on reading them right away, though, waiting for book 3 in September hehe

I got Kingdom of liars too, @eclipse!

Hmm wonder if you carry on your trend of liking the same book as me....

Heyy, I thought the Facebook group was also great. Different venues, but still has some of its own charms I'd reckon.

Suddenly I went from 2 unread books at home, one of which I'll only read right before book 3 is published later this year, to 8 unread books!
I know this is a small number for many of you, but for me it just makes me go "books, books, I want to read them ALL, NOW" which can be a bit stressing...

Today I picked up my copy of The unspoken name by A.K. Larkwood.
It sounds fab and I think I first heard about it in @cupiscent's post HERE (she's her agent-sibling hehe)

Hooray! Hope you enjoy it, though I'm pretty confident about this one. It's an unorthodox but thoroughly entertaining read.

I'm becoming a snob on "signed" books: say bookplates don't really count, or rather, are down the list, which goes 1. book signed and dedicated to you, and given to you by the author, 2. your own book signed in front of you at an event, with dedication, 3. bookshop book signed on the actual paper book (but you not present), and 4. signature on bookplates which are then glued to the book.
Now I'm not rushing to get "signed editions" when it's on bookplates

It may be because I'm super privileged to have a few of those, I know...

This was triggered by seeing @CameronJohnston 's latest book bookplate signed available on the new online indie bookshop (Broken Binding, feel free to check that!) and just thinking "I'd rather wait until I meet him again and get him to sign my books"

Note: he signed my Traitor god when we met, while I embarassed him by saying to the staring waitress "he wrote that book and it's amazing, trust me!"

I'm not a signature chaser at all - the only ones I actually want are scribbled in books written by actual friends. That, I find super-cool to have on my shelf.

Yeah I lived in Thailand (South East Asia), and most people doesn't read here. Bookstores are gradually disappearing and whatnot.
