I'm becoming a snob on "signed" books: say bookplates don't really count, or rather, are down the list, which goes 1. book signed and dedicated to you, and given to you by the author, 2. your own book signed in front of you at an event, with dedication, 3. bookshop book signed on the actual paper book (but you not present), and 4. signature on bookplates which are then glued to the book.
Now I'm not rushing to get "signed editions" when it's on bookplates

It may be because I'm super privileged to have a few of those, I know...
This was triggered by seeing
@CameronJohnston 's latest book bookplate signed available on the new online indie bookshop (Broken Binding, feel free to check that!) and just thinking "I'd rather wait until I meet him again and get him to sign my books"

Note: he signed my
Traitor god when we met, while I embarassed him by saying to the staring waitress "he wrote that book and it's amazing, trust me!"
