@EdMcDonald_Blackwing , I've noticed you around the forum :)
I've seen your books but I'm not sure if I'll like them: what's the style, could you give me a little summary?

Fast paced, fantasy thrillers. My books certainly fall on the darker side of things, but there's a lot of hope and characters who love one another and believe in what they're doing. Most of the action takes place around a wasteland, brought about by a cataclysmic magical weapon eighty years before Blackwing begins. Lots of action, romance (or rather, a relationship) as a key focus through the narrative. Terrifying demonic children.
I write about swords and birds and wizards and stuff.

There's a very interesting review today on the main site of Jeanette Ng's Under the Pendulum Sun"

http://fantasy-faction.com/2019/under-the-pendulum-sun-by-jeannette-ng

He raises some interesting points, some things that I didn't even notice myself when I read it.
It's funny because some of the items he praises are exactly what made me not like the book that much - everyone's different.

The review is so positive it sounds almost pandering... that said if I ever finish my WIP I think I'd want him to review it :)

Celebrated recently because I now have £100 on my Waterstones card. Then had a little cry because that means I've spent over £1000 on books since last spring.

Nice interview with a children's author about growing up reading fantasy:

Me again :-[

I'll stop for a while now... But I got Jen Williams' Poison song today, even though it's only supposed to be out on Friday :D
There goes my reading plan out the window, as this will be my next read.

Yeah, I think they send the books to the big Waterstone's a few days in advance - I went to Manchester today and I was tidying Jen's books and putting them in order, and suddenly noticed this one :D

I might have acted a bit Gollum *my precious* when I picked it up :-[

@CameronJohnston, I noticed your little 'homage' to Jen Williams ;D
The ship called Y'Ruen's Revenge, or was it a coincidence? :o
