So with recent Scott Lynch/ GRRM chatter found myself thinking of other books we are still awaiting.

The Sun's Devices by Rebecca Levine (Book 3 of the Hunter's Kind)

What has happened to it?

Any other books you are waiting for?

Agree with above, and if we're talking about unfinished series, then book 4 from Elspeth Cooper (although she better include a summary of what happened before ???) and book 5 from Melanie Rawn in the Glass Thorns series (only published in the US so far, despite the other 4 being available in the UK >:()

Thorn of Emberlain by Scott Lynch

4th book in Songs of the Earth by Elspeth Cooper

Doors of Stone by Pat Rothfuss

are the books I'm waiting for outside regular publishing schedules.

Honourable mention for Megan Whalen Turner, because I feel like I've spent so many years fondly hoping that there will be more of the Queen's Thief series, and she's going to be finishing it very damn soon, huzzah. (Good things do come to those who are patient!)

Peace Talks by Jim Butcher

Also, if the rest of the Sea Beggars series by Paul Kearney was released from publishing limbo, that'd be great.

Lord of the Rings IV: Sauron Strikes Back anyone?

How many of these delays are down to writer's block and how many due to being dropped by publishers (but we don't get told this.)

Book 3 of Ken Liu's Dandelion Dynasty.
Doors of Stone, obviously
Irulan of Dune & Throne of Dune, but I believe both have been cancelled by this point

And while I didn't really like either of the first two, my shelf demands book3 of Steven Erikson's Kharkanas trilogy for the sake of completeness.

I was going to add, just for laughs, "the next Tool album", but then I thought I'd just check google, why not, and it's COMING IN AUGUST (allegedly), my god, we've only been waiting since 2006...

It would probably be cliche to say 'The Winds of Winter' but I gave up waiting for that one a long time ago. It's up there with Elder Scrolls 6 on my list of things to try and forget about.

I've been looking forward to this one since Dadly's Auto-Erotic Auto-Biography.

I just didn't realize he knew so much about cars!

I've been waiting for Lightbringer Book 5 (it is not out of schedule tho, expected on November '19)
Kallor shrugged. 'I've walked this land when the T'lan Imass were but children. I've commanded armies a hundred thousand strong. I've spread the fire of my wrath across entire continents, and sat alone upon tall thrones. Do you grasp the meaning of this?'

'Yes' said Caladan Brood. 'You never learn'

This is hilarious.  I did write a love poem to my hand once....
