Malazan Book of the Fallen: Battle Bracket
« on: May 25, 2020, 04:12:38 AM »
For those of you who have read Malazan, or know enough to vote....  Go vote here:https://challonge.com/MalazanBottom64

You can create an account with any email, it doesn't require verification. Takes 2 seconds!

I created 2 brackets.

  • https://challonge.com/MalazCombat - All the main heavy hitters in Malazan. If you've read the books, you know there's A LOT. I picked the most obvious TOP 48. Created a main bracket for the top 48 badasses.
  • https://challonge.com/MalazanBottom64 - In order to choose the final 2 seeds of that bracket, I created another 64man bracket...cause again there's A LOT of pretty tough people. The final 2 left in this bracket will be the bottom 2 seeds of the other main bracket. We are currently on round3 of this one.

The rules are inside the bracket...but they are as follows:

Imagine each contestant at their peak. They know their opponent and have 24 hours to prepare. They bring their normal "kit"(weapon, armor, abilities, etc). They meet on battle field..will they salute and fight? Or use deceit, hide in the shadows? Rush in for the kill or strike from afar? Vote on who you think would win the fight! (Try and avoid, if you can, simply voting for your favorite!)

I've posted this a few other places as well. We had nearly 100 votes the first round. Hoping to keep the activity up!  Voting not start for main bracket until "play-in" bracket is complete.

It's just a random battle of powerful characters?

I see humans, gods and other races all mixed. Surely the gods, Tiste, Azathanai and their likes will win.

Brood, Ruin, and Tool made it into the TOP 48 Bracket.

https://challonge.com/MalazCombat

Once again, on "challonge" website, you can use a fake email to register. Takes like 3seconds, just type something in, hit submit and vote.

Please try and vote for who you think would WIN. Not your favorite.

Also, please keep checking back often. I will be updating the winners every 1-3 days depending on how many votes are coming in. I don't want to drag it out, but I also don't want to submit if only a few have voted.

Yes it's silly, low brow, and might end up being a popularity contest, but...it's quarantine and it's fun!

Voted.

I'm surprised O'nos Tool is beating Edgewalker! Edgewalker frightens even older gods and is from a race that is beyond those we've seen in the books.

@isos81 Check this out.

I've seen this but I generally tend to stay away battles because:
  • I mostly don't remember chars and their powers ;D
  • Votes are based on likable chars, not on powers
It's fun, I know, but it's not appealing to me.

Ps: And I don't want to register for voting.
Kallor shrugged. 'I've walked this land when the T'lan Imass were but children. I've commanded armies a hundred thousand strong. I've spread the fire of my wrath across entire continents, and sat alone upon tall thrones. Do you grasp the meaning of this?'

'Yes' said Caladan Brood. 'You never learn'

I know it can get down to favorite, and it might. But I have asked everyone to only vote for who would win, not your fav.  Also, you don't have to register really.  Just type anything in the email field...you don't have to verify afterwards.

Either my memory's even worse than I thought or there are new characters in the last 3 books, the ones I haven't read yet, hehe
Or maybe it's to do with the prequels and sequels...
At home in the Fantasy Faction forum!

I'm "She Who Reigns Over Us All In Crimson Cheer", according to Peat!

There are some Crimson Guard members and they were basically part of ICE novels IIRC. And I'm worse than you in terms of memory :)

Anyway, I wish Rake to win (he is my favorite) I'm not sure if he can best T'iam or K'rul

If you're looking at R4 matchups, then these are all mainstream characters and feature in almost all books. T'iam and Draconus in passing, but they are there.
