Yay! iron Ghost just arrived, suitably singed by messenger dragon.
Big ass binding! At 533 pages and huge paper, does this count as a door stopper?  ;)

My TBR order may have just gone to pot.  ;D
Meanwhile, my daughter now has my copy of Copper Promise. It had better come back one day.  >:(  :)

Lucky you! We haven't even ordered it yet...  :-[

I've actually barely read anything in the last few days, just a couple of chapters each of Eli Monpress and Wee Free Men. I have what should be a fairly acceptable excuse though: 6,700 words have been written instead.  :P
I wish the world was flat like the old days, then I could travel just by folding a map.

@Rostum... Verdict?

Sorry for the late reply.
I only finished the Copper Promise this morning having put it down Wednesday and picked it back up this morning.
I took me back in the direction of some books I read as a teen and in that sense it was a breath of fresh air. Promise felt a lot more like the fantasy romps that got me into the genre. (Sorry Jen) I wont be rushing out and buying the Iron Ghost and putting it on top of my TBR pile but I will pick it up as time and money allow and stick it on the bottom of the pile. It was a good read but did not grab me and shake me as hard as some of the books I have read in the last year. I really wish I knew why I am not as enthusiastic as others in this thread....But don't take my opinion as anything other than that and read it yourselves.

So you're adding a member to the cult? On Senny related news, she was nominated for an award the other day.

Actually, a sofa or a bed is better (for me) - somewhere to be comfy reclined ;D

(and Jmack, she definitely looks like a teenager, hehe - are you sure she's over 19?)

I could also be a member of that club. I get told the same thing a lot.
I will expand your TBR pile.

(@Jmack, could you maybe remove the reference to the first book name in the thread title? Or add 'and all her books'?)

I finished Iron Ghost last night.
Wow!
I mean, I liked Copper Promise, but I *really liked* this one. It was so amazing, so great, you can see Jen's growth in writing, in plotting, in character development, in character relationships, in addressing 'big subjects'...

I can't wait for the next one - but the great thing is, it's a trilogy where you're not on tenterhooks to know what happens next, each book is perfectly contained (what was it someone said in another thread - it's a serial, not a series?)

Just one little down point >:(
Spoiler for Hiden:
Why did Dallen simply disappear? Hmmm? No proper goodbyes, no romantic last scene, just a touch of eyes across the harbour? They deserved better, both of them. hmmm...

Edit: calling @sennydreadful because I think she'll like to hear all these good things (and she might answer my spoiler question hehe.
I am *so* glad I bought the 2 books :D (I'd read the first one from the library, now it's all mine!)

Aww, thank you so much! The second book was extremely hair-raising for me and I sweated blood over it (difficult second album etc) so it really means a lot when people enjoy it.  ;D

As for your spoilered comment...

Spoiler for Hiden:
What can I say? Seb's actions were, to Dallen, fairly unforgivable  :'( It was likely less painful for them to part that way...

More hijinks, monsters and yes, even romance in The Silver Tide, which is out next year ;)

I have to agree with Bea. The Copper Promise was great fun, but everything got dialled up to 11 in The Iron Ghost. It's one of the best books I've read this year. Very eager for The Silver Tide and Jen's new series after that.

Great interview with Jen Williams where she talks about all three books and more about the characters.
