Jesper fahay and Wylan van eck from the Crooked Kingdom duology by Leigh Bardugo. I think the gradual and subtle revelation that Jesper like guys was done really well in this book, painting the scene in a normal atmosphere without too much emphasizing on the LGBTQ point, much like that of a typical man-woman kind of romance. Thumbs up to Leigh Bardugo on Jesper and Wylan's growing relationship.  8)

Thanks to @m3mnoch I have been playing with the list, this should be easier to read now with  Author, book title, book series and sub genre.

Thanks both,  that is much clearer. Please could you either Bold or Colour the Authors so they stood out more above their books and series?
Also please could you now add A Conjuring of Light under V E Schwab ?

Thanks for this, I agree that it helps a lot, but could you make a few changes, please, Eclipse?
(sorry)

* Remove John Gwynne's books from the list (they're in 2 sections) -- it's already on the honourable mention, and it really doesn't have gay characters, once I read the full series

* Rebecca Levene's book isn't really Mythology; I'd put it on High Fantasy, looking at the other names in the section

* Sarah Monette "A companion to wolves" isn't Romance, that could go into Mythology, actually (and it's written by Elizabeth Bear too)

* N.K. Jemisin "The fifth season" isn't really Sci-fi; Low Fantasy, maybe

* Add Mark Lawrence "Red sister" to High Fantasy

Thanks :)

While I'm here, some additions from my recent reads: (and editing to add in the subgenres...)

Jon Skovron's Hope and Red (Book 1 of Empire of Storms - epic fantasy) has a number of queer characters in the support cast, and a main supporting character who is trans.

Is the rule here "only one in a series"? Because Ellen Kushner's Riverside books are more standalones in the same universe than a series, per se, and they all contain oodles of queer characters. I'd like to add Privilege of the Sword and Tremontaine in particular.

CS Pacat's Captive Prince (book 1 of the Captive Prince trilogy - probably call it romance) has a slow-burn central m/m romance.

We have Leigh Bardugo on the list already, but her Six of Crows trilogy (first book: Six of Crows, also YA) also has queer characters in the main cast.
