Best equal partnership duos ( no sidekicks)

Who writes the best equal  partnerships duos in fantasy? For myself I go for  Tehol and  Bugg from Steven Erickson.

Oh, those are the ones you keep asking me if I've read them yet ;D

I quite like Royce and Hadrian (Sullivan's Riyria) and Wydrin and Sebastian (Williams' Copper Cat)

I'm "She Who Reigns Over Us All In Crimson Cheer", according to Peat!

Jane and Vincent from Mary Robinette Kowal's Glamourist Histories. It's not just the things they can achieve together, but how they are greater together than separate, mutually supportive through challenge and growth, and they communicate well and genuinely.

Straight off the top of my head, Rhodry and Jill from Deverry and Erik and Roo from Riftwar. Very nostalgic choices. Oh! And Pippin and Merry.

*starts thinking of really awesome ones*

Although differing figures managing different aspects of their shared goals, Aragorn and Gandalf are interesting in their mutually deferring attitudes towards each other, which makes them equals of a unique kind with differing potencies.

I found Logen Ninefingers and the demon-girl whose name escapes me to be uniquely interesting equals - both dangerous and profoundly skilled fighters with rough edges and sour outlooks. Their sex scene is one of the few times in a book I laughed hard enough to *almost* piss my pants.

I second Tehol and Bugg, Royce and Hadrian, Erik and Roo and Wydrin and Sebastian. It's too late to come up with not yet mentioned choices but I'll try in the morning. Yawn.

Mulder & Scully, of course.

I'm reading Dale Lucas' Fifth Ward books at the moment, and they have a very Lethal Weapon-ish partnership. Half heroic fantasy and half buddy cop mystery. definitely the best partnership I've read recently. there are a lot of groups that work well, but duos are pretty rare. Fafrhd and the grey Mouser are the only others I can come up with off the top of my head, and that's pretty old.
