Fantasy Inspired Pet Names

So I am willing to bet at least a few more people here has named a pet after some kind of figure they loved in a fantasy novel or even a legend.  I know I have had my share.  Most recent is my silver tabby cat.  Her, yes I said her, name is Merlin.  I know it's a boys name and she is a girl kitty but that is because there was a mix up when I bought her from the pet shop, they told me she was a boy and then when I collected her one week later I had already thought of the name and even when I found out she was a girl I couldn't stop thinking of her as a 'Merlin' she Merlin she stayed.

And really it suites her perfectly.  She isn't one of those sleepy prissy cats she's more likely to sneak up on you and hunt insects then laze around, she's a little adventurer with a touch of mystery about her.

So has anyone else want to share their fantasy inspired pet names?

About seven years ago my husband and I decided to get a puppy.  We decided to get a boxer puppy.  We named him DOBBY (house elf from Harry Potter).  When we first saw him he had this "I'm feeling sorry for myself" look, with his ears flat against his head and his eyes looking really sad.  He looked like Dobby.  After seven year he still do that we he was naughty.

I love Boxers!

Not exactly named after a fantasy character or legend. We have a Mini Bullie...Boris (not my choice)...he's got a ton of nicknames. He gets called Possu (Finnish for 'Piglet') a lot, and I call him Boromir now and again.

We also have a very nice sofa!

Not fantasy inspired perhaps, but Smeghead and Lister the cats grace our home (in in Lister's case, attempt to steal our curry--he was well named!). My dog makes an appearance in one of my books, does that count? :D

Smeghead!! - Hah! I'd love to see the look on your neighbours faces when you call him in for food!

I think that's cool that your dog features in one of your books. What's the title? Might be fun to read.

I was wondering if there was any SF with bull terriers rearing their odd shaped heads, and found Jonathan Carroll's The Land of Laughs. I'll be giving it a read in a few weeks.

And the book isn't out yet. Fantasy Faction will be the first to know when I can say anything. /mysterious

My parents' cat, Pixel, is named after the cat in The Cat Who Walks Through Walls by Robert Heinlein. My dad is a big sci-fi buff. :)

I always thought Balerion is a cool name but maybe too many syllables for a dog's name. I want to own a horse one day and call him Shadowmere.

My dogs are Rolo - same colour as chocolate, so it makes sense, and Penny - named after Penny from Big Bang Theory.

I tried to name them Dragnipur and Dresden, but my wife gave me the Look.

That's okay, my dad wanted to name my younger twin brothers Bilbo and Frodo. :D  Mom vetoed that one.
