The Legend Award is open for votes!

Help make/keep this award the biggest on the block. It's a great memorial to an excellent author who we lost too soon.

I haven't managed to read a whole bunch of books recently. The only ones I've read on the list are The Emperor's Knife and Snuff, and whilst I love Sir Terry, Snuff is not in my opinion a book even close to the spirit of David Gemmell.

My money is on "A Wise Man's Fear" or "The Law of Alloy." But lots of great books here.

And I'm glad Mark posted this. The Gemmell is, for me, the award that best indicates where the genre is at today.

I chose The Cold Commands by Richard Morgan for the coolest protagonist, extremes of brutality and tenderness, themes of friendship and of course, fine fine writing.

Voted for The Heroes, but was disappointed we didn't get a best debut category as would have liked to support either Hullick or Lawrence.

There's a best debut category called 'The Morningstar Award' - you can vote for Doug there when it opens.

:) the Gemmell Awards don't select their entrants - it's up to the publishers to send in nominations. You might have noticed that GRRM's A Dance With Dragons is not on the Legend list, though it would very likely win by a fair margin if it were.
