Book-hoarders Anonymous - display your wares
« on: July 27, 2012, 09:52:17 AM »
As someone who is physically unable to go past a book shop without popping in and buying a book, I have amassed a rather large library at home.
Second-hand bookstores and sales are even worse as the books are so cheap!

Anyway, I decided to post a picture of my bookshelves - they only contain my recent purchases, I have more tucked away on other shelves in cupboards and boxes filled as well...

I thought it might be interesting if everyone who wanted to took a photo of their own book stash and posted it here....

Love your bookshelf - unfortunately I have sloped walls, so my bookshelf is very low and small. My TBR pile really is just that. Actually, it's more of a mound really. I'll try and get a picture later.

My books were a mound as well, everything piled up and mixed up, as long as it was on the shelves I didn't care :)
Then I went a bit OCD a few weeks ago and arranged everything properly...it was exceptionally satisfying.

I'm moving overseas in 5 weeks, and I'm already getting separation anxiety. It's a permanent move, and I have no idea how I'm going to get all my books across. They would take up the most space by far.

Here's my SFF/historical/current reading bookcases - the one on the left is a double - the front part slides across and there's more books behind

Here's my non-fic/memoir/reference bookcase (with a bit of SFF overspill)

And that's not counting the other genre bookcases, of which there are several (one for crime/thriller/mystery frex).

I used to have more books, but I ran out of space so I had to have a clearout

We've had a slightly nomadic life, so most of our collection is still in storage - four different places, too (two in california, two in Missouri!). I'll try to snap some shots of our bookcases though, although everything is double-shelved and stacked, so it is a little misleading!

Sigh. Someday, I'm owning a barn. Or a fire station. Something properly spacious, dammit.

Mine has literally overrun our house and we've therefore had to convert the second bedroom into a book room =/

I'll get a picture up over the weekend O : )

I'd love to participate, but I've moved most of my books up to the attic. I've only got one bookcase worth of speculative fiction downstairs in the open at the moment.

Honestly though, I doubt I'll ever get those books back down. I've been nearly exclusively buying ebooks for the last few years. The only physical books I still buy are Steven Erikson's.

I think if there's anything in the attic I want to read again, I'll just buy the ebook instead of digging through the boxes. (Yeah, I'm that lazy.)

I only really started reading properly about 2 years ago. So my shelves are mainly packed with manga :D

However, I got a Kindle last year, so most of my collection is on there. Around 200 books so far, exclusively fantasy and sci-fi :O
I wonder how much room that would take up in real life...

My bookcases are all over the flat, and at least half my collection is stashed in boxes.  My flat is the place where my books live and allow me to stay and look after them.

Two-thirds of my spec fic shelves - or as much of them as I could fit into the shot, anyway. There's more I haven't photographed.

And the Masterworks, although to be fair these are my husband's:

I think I need an intervention.
