Hi i was wondering .. does anyone remember a novel released toward the end of the 90's , the main character was the "Champion of the old gods" He had a scythe that was stuck to where i think his right hand hand been by one of the gods that he served , im pretty sure the scythe had some sort of magic attached to it and was forged out of some crazy thing ?? lol by some legendary weponship/blacksmith guy...i'm also pretty sure the main charater wore a cloak and had glowing ... maybe like stars for eyes , he had wandered the universe and was on some sort of  mission where there where 2 other characters travelling with him  i think one was some sort of warrior girl with Kartans  ... i know its pretty vague but it WAS along time and alot of books ago ....maybe someone can help me  :-*

I thought maybe Percy Jackson, but nah - there is a Scythe in there and old gods too, but it is a bit later on and not really fitting with the rest of description.

Also... didn't the girl have glowing eyes? And there were 3 of them... It's a pretty vague description so it could be...

The gods of Olympus are alive in the 21st Century. They still fall in love with mortals and have children who might become great heroes, but most of these children meet horrible fates at the hands of monsters by the age of twelve. Only a few learn the truth of their identity and make it to Half Blood Hill, a Long Island summer camp dedicated to training young demigods. Such is the revelation that launches young Percy Jackson on a quest to help his real father, Poseidon, avert a war among the gods. With the help of Grover the satyr and Annabeth the daughter of Athena, Percy must journey across the United States to catch a thief who has stolen the original weapon of mass destruction - Zeus’ master bolt. Along the way, they face a host of mythological enemies determined to stop them. Most of all, Percy must come to terms with a father he has never known, and an Oracle that has warned him of betrayal by a friend.

Published quite a bit later than the OP indicated, but it's a possibility!

Hmm no not that one I'm afraid ..this had to be published in the early/mid 90's and was set in a mythical world.
God i'm grasping for detail here , all i could remember is that the power of the old gods was dieing due to the people now worshipping "new gods"
There was 3 of them , the main charaters, his hand was ripped off to make way for the scythe to be attached to that the the old god "gave" him. ??? hmm ill add things if i can remember more.
Was a brill book thou ... o btw loving Wise Mans Fear , such a shame it took soooo long to get to the shelves
