« on: August 12, 2014, 12:50:17 PM »
Meeting up with Patrick Rothfuss on Thursday and going to interview him for Fantasy-Faction; primarily about his Auri novella (read about it here: http://fantasy-faction.com/tag/the-slow-regard-of-silent-things )

If you have any questions for Pat (that do not involve: when is book 3 out) then please let me know :)

Why did writing a novella about Auri appeal more than any other character?

What's up with his Laniel book?

Now that he's reaching the end (presumably!) of the process of writing the Kingkiller Chronicle, what has he found most challenging and how much has he veered from the original draft in terms of raw story?

Can he give FF an exclusive?

When's Book 3...DAMN.

Almost made it for a second there.

You do loads of work with the Worldbuilders charity: do you think what you learn from them, and those experiences, shape what you write?

Due to the amount of time you've spent in his POV, how much Kvothe is in Patrick Rothfuss, and does it affect your ability to write other POVs?

Are you planning on writing "real" (opposed to your adult children books) children's books, now that Oot is getting older? Or is it just happening anyways? Being a father and a storyteller you surely invent stories for him all the time, did you deem some worth getting published?

Auri is a very special character, how came she to be? Was she suddenly there or did she evolve from another idea/character?

When will Doors of Stone not come out? ;)

How much planning did you do before starting on the trilogy (if it is still a trilogy) and how much ' that's a cool idea, I'll do that ' or 'now that I know Kvothe better he wouldn't do that, he'd do this instead ' went on as you wrote (and continue to write)?

Interview be up VERY soon :)

Pat was running running low on time because he had a signing at one, so his Press Officer told me Pat only had 15 minutes with 3 interviewers. I decided to focus on his Auri novella - why it was important, what it would change about book 3, why Auri and what Auri added to the series as a whole (she wasn't in early versions). We also touched on audio books and readings.
