Has anyone read his books?  They seem interesting, but reviews are rather mixed.

He's only got the one book out so far; The Throne of the Crescent Moon. I personally loved it, one of my favourite books this year. Again I love Arabian Nights flavoured material, which this is.

That's a year after it came out in the US. I can't see why the releases aren't better synched than that. Hopefully it will get a good audience, because it's a good book.

Different publisher, I think. If the rights don't all sell at the same time (or globally), that'll happen...

The world of publishing is a complete and total mystery to me in many ways. Thanks for clearing it up.

couldn't folks from the UK have gone on Amazon and purchased it all along?

Perhaps, but some of us like to support our bricks and mortar bookstores, so we don't lose them, and that requires said book being published over here.

Besides, I once tried to buy a book from US amazon (because it was an American small press comic anthology for charity, and wasn't getting published over here), and it was a whole world of hassle I didn't need.

For e-books, that's not an option.  :-\

As we're on the UK market down here I actually did that, but I do like to be able to pick the book up in the store and look at it before buying, especially if it's an author I'm not familiar with.

Really?  How would they even know where you lived unless you told them?
