« on: January 15, 2011, 10:11:19 AM »
Let's start a new thread with nice fantasy pictures.
I found one that really reminded me of the nightangel trilogy -->

And this one, that looks like a dragon's egg.

I am huge fan of fantasy Angels.  Nice war angels in plate armor and huge swords.  Found this one, thought it looked sweet as hell.

I love how where she is touching him he is becoming more Angelic where she is becoming more Hellish

BUMP!

Most of the internet has already seen this by now, but I never get tired of looking at it: http://www.jasonchanart.com/gallery/2008/zombieplayground.jpg

What I love about it, is that at first you think "Hey! Awesome picture!" then you think, "Hang on, that's only going to end one way." and it makes you feel a little sad.

Here's his blog, where much more excellent fantasy art is available to be gawked at: http://jasonchanart.blogspot.com/

I am NOT short. I'm further away than I look.

I believe this is from the Darkness, a comic book series.  I have never read it (I don't read comics anymore) but what I have heard about it has intrigued me.  There are other pictures like this up on deviant art that I am very much a fan of.

WOW, his magic card game pictures are awesome!!
I always liked the pictures on the cards, my favourite ones were the ones designed by Rebbeca Guay. I love this Art Nouveau style!

Oh, dear, Overlord.  *shakesheadsadly*

I wouldn't say I'm a raging feminist, but that picture was just wrong.  Just...wrong, and not a little insulting.  I am not a prude, but I really hate it when fantasy pictures usually drawn by men show half-naked women in unrealistic poses and 'armour', more like lap-dancing outfits, which wouldn't repel the arrow from a level one kobold, and spines twisted to the point of pain.  I expect more maturity from fantasy fans, not sure why, and always find myself horribly disappointed when pictures like this crop up.

Perhaps this isn't the best place for this discussion, so for anyone interested:

http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19913186/Most_ridiculous_wizards_female_art

And the good stuff:

http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19913330/What_Art_Gets_It_Right_Pt_2!!

Both really good discussions, and they're not restricted to Wizards art - it welcomes all aspects of fantasy.

What's particularly amusing about the pic Overlord posted, is that no matter where you look in the picture the lines invariably draw you towards the woman's bare arse.

The battle stage left? Their eyeline directs you to the woman's bare arse, the same for the people on the right. That bridgehouse in the middle distance? Follow it along and see... The woman's bare arse. The sword she's carrying? Follow the line from tip to pommel and see... The woman's bare arse. Try looking at the very phallic tower just to the left of her and your peripheral vision takes in? You guessed it, the woman's bare arse. Even if you try to look at the mountain scenery in the background, the line of the mountain, yes, even the mountain, draws your eye towards that bare arse again!  Credit where it's due; that artist drew a bare arse and by god, he's going to make sure you look at it! :D

EDIT: How did you guys get the pics to display on this page?  Mine are just showing up as links. ???

Right click on the image you want to hotlink and select 'view image', then copy and paste the image only link (which in the case of link#2 for example, is http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_570xN.158930780.jpg) then add that link inside an (img) (/img) (except with proper bracketing) tag. So that...

http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_570xN.158930780.jpg

Becomes...

Hotlinking is generally frowned upon by smaller websites though, so in those cases save the image, upload it to an image host such as image shack and then hotlink it from there. I think Etsy is big enough not to mind, but the creator would most likely appreciate a link to the purchase page as well in those cases. ;)
