I was just browsing around things yesterday and I discovered that last fall Erikson let it be known that third book in the Kharkanas series has been put on hold (sounds like the sales of the first two were really bad) and that he's now actively working on the first book of the Karsa trilogy.  As someone who had a hard time getting into the Kharkansas stuff (FoD was ok but was a bit of a struggle and FoL so far as been a DNF for me) I can see why they would be stopped for a bit but I'm sure its disappointing to those who liked those books not to get them finished up.

Followed up on that "pilot episode" of a Malazan podcast with Erikson/Esslemont. Notes link.

I’ve been bumping up the deadhouse gate topics and it’s been fun rereading our theories and thoughts shame windy and Jeni are not here at the moment.

Call them ;D @Jeni, @Idlewilder , wooohoooo

And thanks, I'll make sure to give my random thoughts as I read, hehe

One question for the experts: how many books are there, really, in the "core" Malazan? I think there are 'extras' and stuff, but the main series is how many books?

And the six or seven novels from Esslemont are worth reading too. Check out the mixed reading order Windy posted somewhere here. :)

Procrastinating from my research reading some of the old threads. I'm officially at a point where I read my own posts and don't have much memory of any of the events I was on about...

...is it...

...is it time for my 1st re-read?

Yay Doug! Maybe it is, although you need lots of time...
At the moment I'm having trouble finding time to read what I want and my sleep is suffering - yes, my name's Bea and I'm a Malazan convert ;D

(check my comments on DG, and now MoI, hehe)

I reread Gardens of the Moon a few weeks ago and it was awesome. I'm not sure I can bear DG, knowing what's about to happen... So I'm on the fence (especially because there are so many other things I want to read) and compromised with reading Fall of Light. :)

Better crack on before the Karsa trilogy comes out.
Or the final Ascendancy book.

New around here and just found this..

I read GotM right before our baby arrived. It was, bat-shit crazy, surprising, sickening, twisted, ferocious, fast - my wife used to look over and see the look on my face while I was reading it and ask if I was ok. :)

DG is up on the shelves somewhere, unread so far.. and I feel Malazanic stirrings on finding these re-read topics.

Maybe if I finish Hobb's RotE over Christmas... :D

Yay another one ;D

I've read the first 3, totally amazing, have 4 at home but I think I'll wait a bit until I go on another Malazan binge with a couple of books, hehe

I'm going to reread all of Malazan next year (hopefully). Will be doing it in chronological order, or as close as the books allow, so I can include Kellanved's Reach when it's released in February.

Glad to see @ScarletBea still reading and enjoying posting on these threads. I loved doing this read-along and think it added immensely to my enjoyment of this incredible series. Can you believe it's 5 years since we did it @xiagan @Jeni @Eclipse ?
