Found another really could pic I could've used for the first post:

"time travellers" by ThanosTsilis. It's for a time traveller's guide for dummies".  ;D
"Sire, I had no need of that hypothesis." (Laplace)

I agree with the increased word limit, because it is so fitting. Just because you have 1750 words to play with doesn't mean you have to use them all, though.
I will expand your TBR pile.

Damn I really have 1 666 words of pure 'out of topic' story  ;D

Damn it, I'm IN!! I'm first, for the first time ever! Wrote this damn thing in two sittings, last night when the idea hit, and today to flesh and polish it.
It's the first time this happens since my first submission two years ago for Rogues, *does the happy dance* !

It's so out of topic, I don't even get why I bothered entering it here rather than the critique thread. Sorry Bea  ;D

Edit : i'm having issues with my use of the lemniscate, the symbol for infinity. When i add it to my story, it shows up fine, but if I refresh the page and click to expend the spoiler tag again, it has turned into a question mark.
What do you see? Is it due to the spoiler tag, or is it always like this?

Here, let me write a lemniscate : ?

Edit 2 : nope, as soon as I refresh this page the lemniscate turns into a question mark. But do you guys ever see the lemniscate before it disappears? And what the hell with that anyway?

And here me thinking "Hey, I got an idea on the first day, silly as it is!"

But that's ok, from 22nd position to 2nd, that's cool too  ::)

To be fair, the idea of star crossed lovers, the man called Bobby and dying, the woman being a genius scientist, is not entirely new. Over a year ago I wanted to write a story where the world was so fundamentally collapsing on itself that only travel to another dimension could grant survival. The female MC would have gone home from being interrogated by gvt to find her lover Bobby would have committed suicide. It had no plot though, just a unwieldy premise. I guess having the characters more or less fleshed out in the back of my head really helped, though the original story was not meant to be in 1st person present tense.

@Lanko : beware, there are some silent but deadly fast guns in this contest! Write awaaaaay!!

@Nora, have you read The Shadow Out of Time, by Lovecraft? It has quite some of those themes, in the form of an alien species that are able to switch minds with other beings even through time.

There's a particularly awesome scene when they move to another home planet (switching minds), then the other species gets horrified by seeing their family and friends in alien bodies, then themselves and then they look at the sky and there's the freaking Sun approaching. Meanwhile the mind-switching aliens simply go live the good life in other bodies in a good planet and keep doing that eternally.
Slow and steady wins the race.
