That might be the first time I have seen the code tags being used on this forum in the ten-ish months I've been here.  :)

Ten months? It feels longer ...in a good way

Thanks!  ;D

Actually, I've been here even less (like eight and a half months) because I registered on the last day of January and this month is obviously not over yet. But who's counting?  ::)
Everything I wrote above is pure conjecture. I don't know what I'm talking about.

It stripped out some of the formatting (on ours at least), and you didn't program it to replace "Raptori" with "Raptori & Saurus". I are disappoint.  >:(

Other than that, looks good.  :P

heh.  i knew he was being funny.

but, thanks!

i also added more context for the contest.  a link to the forum.  lots of "fantasy faction" everywhere -- you know, just in case this thing trickles out.  if there are more copyright-style things you or marc want me to put in there, i'm happy to do it.

i'm about to point my script at the space opera forum to see what happens.  heh.

Haha awesome! Very cool stuff. I think I'll be using these!  :D

It's a normal epub file, most ebook readers can open them. I even have a firefox plugin that works as an ebook reader, and they work in that.  :)

yup.  tho, if it's easier, i can push up pdfs too.  it all just grinds through my script and spits out.

speaking of, i also ran flash fiction and space opera through it.  i needed to harden the script against rogue exclamation points in urls, random title formatting, and the different ways the voting results are dropped in.  mostly, tho, it "just worked".

flash fiction:
http://m3mnoch.com/static/ff-books/flash-fiction-show.epub

space opera:
http://m3mnoch.com/static/ff-books/space-opera-show.epub

going forward, all i need to do type "./build-ff-book.sh <submission thread url>" and about 20 seconds later, they magically appear on my server.

I don't have an e=book reader on my laptop , please could you recommend which I should download so I can see what m3mnoch has been creating? Best and easiest to use, doesn't have to be free. Please note I am not techie but can download and install etc but not juggle things like you guys. ;)

That would be a pdf file, @Lady_Ty! I would convert the file for you, but sadly I'm on my new computer, I haven't installed the proper software to do that yet, and I'm working pretty soon.  :o

Windows 10 compatible

you've got a few options.

you can send it to your kindle:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle

or, you can download an application and read it on your computer (most of those should work on windows 10):
http://beebom.com/2015/01/best-epub-reader-for-windows

or, you can pull a raptori and read it in your browser:
http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/read-epub-ebooks-on-firefox-chrome/

i'm on a mac, so i can read it in ibooks.

personally, reading pdfs annoys me.  it's very nature (print layouts) means the text and layout doesn't flow based on when and where you're reading it.  epubs re-flow depending on your font/screen size/screen orientation preferences -- it's much cooler for books.

@m3mnoch: incredible.
What a very, very cool thing.

thanks, man!  lazy programmers are lazy.  so, we spend hours upon hours scripting something that only takes a couple minutes to do manually.  that's how we roll.

Thanks to all for the help, greatly appreciated. Will play around today with various options. Agree, Nora, I do have trouble reading pdf but will see what results I get with all the suggestions.
