OCTOBER: Ticking Time Bomb Scenario



The Clock by Thenoviceone

This month's theme can take place in Fantasy or Science Fiction or any related genre. The only objective we have for you is that you must give us a sense of real urgency and speed. Your story doesn't necessarily have to feature a time bomb but it needs to center around running out of time and may even leave the reader out of breath.

Submission topic will be created on the first of October.

Note: This thread is only for questions or discussing October's writing contest. Good luck!

In a total lack of humour, i'm not sure I'll join this month. I'm busy writing another story, and nothing inspires me at the minute. Though I'm totally open to deadline lightning bolts of inspiration.

I know right? I still don't really like fanfic of books, nor meta fanfic (crossovers, falls into another book, etc. I see the fun but I don't wanna write it).
SW is a bit of a sandbox universe though... Disney came in and was like "everything written so far is now expensive fanfiction". Then they added new and often terrible content, that made the fan in me take pleasure in re-writes and alternative stories. Plus this is two original characters, so I only borrow the setting.  :D

I hardly think I'll win this month anyway, so may as well have fun.

I didn’t finish. I got 1,000 words in, and kept thinking about various problems with the story. Then time got away, and...

Well. I learned a number of things about my characters Gurdig and Grey and how some goblinish doings go in, so there’s that.

Last night, I read my story aloud to Mrs. JMac. I try to do this before posting my stories, but there was no time and she was obsessed with this voting thing on TV. Well, as usual, she sniffed out a ton of plot holes and confusions.

Gonna have to create a better version to put onto my blog site.
