How do I delete my guess?

Just enter a new guess and it will replace the old one.

Why me? I'm playing a serious detective  ::)

And the missing letters definitely proves Eclipse threw guesses for some others as well ::)

Anyway, there's actually a fourth guy with a second submission: @LightRunner , who confirmed he's in. @xiagan is giving us faulty info  >:(
I think I always said 3-4 and stuff like that. ;)
Plus you have to remember that three stories will stay anonymous and my hints should not lead to reveal whose they are. So a little blur is unavoidable.

@Lanko, we don't know how many of our writers from way back have come back in  just for fun or because xia and Bea deliberately encouraged them to make it harder.  ;)  I would have done that if I'd thought of it in time  :P

They wouldn't count as new, but some may not have posted in months. For example I did wonder if Doc Chill was in with one story because it had a slight touch of his, but pretty sure he's too busy.

It always does so. The writers are struggling on the last days of their newest monthly submission or their own work, the readers who have voted and talked have said what they had to... Things always quiet down before the end of the month, unless there is a big debate starting in the thread.
Guessing can hardly change that.

Curses! My plan to take credit for what is clearly the best story of the month has been foiled!

To make it up to Nora, I insist that everyone go and vote for that story, which is clearly hers, immediately. And if she claims that it isn't her story, don't pay it any attention, that's just part of her impish sense of fun. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my important job of writing very serious stories that aren't at all like IIRGIIFS.

Despite saying I'm not in the contest I actually gained more votes and even majority in a story  :o

Maybe you guys figured it was all a ploy...

Or maybe I wanted you to think it was a ploy and to think I'm in...

It's pretty fucking obvious I wrote Grave Robbing. It's not like I don't have a reputation for amazing stories full of banter, dialogue in capital letters, and cheerful endings that'll put a smile on your lips.

Duh.

How long do I need to participate here, for people to pick up on my unique comedic sense and craft?

My point, entirely.

And yet no one has edited their vote yet.

okey dokey.

so, instead of writing my 1750 entry on my holiday, i procrastinated by writing a bunch of code (combination of r, python, and bash) to dig through all of the stories/authors submitted during 2016 so far.

so, the information i can share without really giving anything away is the authors that bubbled up as having entries in the contest.

medium-to-high confidence:
- Gem_Cutter
- jauerbach
- WarbossTae
- m3mnoch
- Blackthorn
- Nora
- Saraband
- tebakutis
- Hedin
- Henry Dale
- night_wrtr
- Mr.J
- Venandiaer
- Rukaio_Alter
- Jmack
- SJBudd

medium-to-low confidence:
- wakarimasen
- Nerf
- Alex Hormann
- ArcaneArtsVelho
- Captain of the Guard
- Bradley Darewood
- coldbloodedsouth
- SugoiMe
- Doctor Chill

you'll notice there are more authors than stories.  that basically reflects that about 1/3 of the stories were questionably attributed to multiple people.  i suspect a lot of the uncertainty comes from either new authors or authors who haven't submitted much this year -- because the analysis works best with as large a corpus (writing samples) as possible.

some interesting bits:
- about half the stories matched one author heavily, with maybe one or two distant second authors.
- a couple stories (the grinning man, for example) HEAVILY matched a BUNCH of author writing styles.
- a couple stories (fashion monsters, for example) didn't hardly match anyone's.  (so, surprise!  it's a good candidate for a first-time entrant.)
- a few people with large corpuses matched with tons of stories as a group (me, jmack, tebakutis, rukaio)
- a few people with large corpuses matched with only one or no stories (nora, lanko, aav)
- a few people with relatively small corpuses matched strongly with lots of stories (gem_cutter, blackthorn, nerf)

if you're on either list above and want to know what story the program attributed to you, send me a private message!
