I think I can safely say I enjoyed it immensely.

That's not to say there weren't problems with it (it got a bit confusing around the climax for instance) but I was having so much fun I didn't really notice till after I'd finished. And that's always a good sign!

Definitely in the top 5 books I've read this year. Looking forward to the next one too.
My tongue has been in my cheek for so long, I've eroded a new mouth.

Duellists Trilogy (as Julia Knight) coming soon from Orbit!

Yup really enjoyed it. Great humour and a bit different. Quite a light read. I too will be reading the next one. :)

Bloody fantastic!  ;D ;D ;D

I already have the next book, Moon Over Soho downloaded, but I'm not going to read it until christmas - that way I can read it all in one go  :)

Although, if I've finished reading Neverwhere by the weekend......  :P

Another book that some people might like if they enjoyed Rivers is The Atrocity Archives by Charles Stross.
There are some differences - it's contemporary fantasy-horror, with a branch of British security services (codenamed the Laundry) dealing with the supernatural. It has a Lovecraftian threat, Dilbert-style office politics and humour, and is written in the style of a John le Carre Len Deighton spy thriller. There is a fair bit of computer technobabble (the magic system is based on advanced mathematics).

Really enjoyable, really funny in parts with a great ending.

The description of the underground train scene was engrossing, top marks.
