[Nov 2018] - Ships - Voting Thread
« on: December 03, 2018, 09:16:56 AM »
It's time to vote on the November Writing Contest: "Images - Ships"

This time we got 7 entries - thanks to all who participated.

Please read through all of the entries in the submission thread and place your votes for your two favourite entries in this thread. You won't be able to see the vote breakdown until the vote closes, so spread the word for others to come and vote! We do ask that if you entered, to vote for someone else.

The key for the numbers of votes is this: 1-5 entries: 1 vote, 5-10 entries: 2 votes, 11-15 entries: 3 votes, 16-19: 4 votes, 20-25: 5 votes, 26+: 6 votes

Remember that the winning entry will be posted on the main Fantasy-Faction site in a few months.

Good luck to all our entrants and thank you for taking the time to read the stories and vote! :)

One really superb story, but all were good and interesting.
I did decide on 2nd place after considering between two competitors.

Voted. Likewise, one story really stood out as incredible; and for me, while I enjoyed all the stories, there was a pretty clear second place too  :)

I enjoyed these, it was interesting to see how people chose their inages and interpreted them.
I went for one that really grabbed me, and deliberated hard over two others, but have gone with the one I feel goes with it’s image the best.

Voted.

Some images seem to have been more inspiring than others. Still it's interesting to see how the same picture can give rise to a diversity of stories.

Thank you to everyone - it was a pleasure reading your pieces.

Finally voted. I read everyone a while back, and left it to simmer, coming back now to see which one stand back in my mind. I'm actually voting for one whose ending is completely unclear, and I can't tell if the MC is good or bad or what, but the idea had too much charm for it to be detrimental.

I'm a bit of a prickly reader for boat stories, as I was a rabid fan of the Aubrey and Maturin series as a teen, and The Terror is on my top 5 books of all time list. I'm used to excellent naval stories, so I have a bit of an overly critical eye with them, which also completely keeps me from even trying to write a story from the pov of a normal ship. Hence why I went the land-lubbers way and picked the wreck as my image. A ship without sailing  ;D

It was very fun to see so many picking the same image and coming out with completely different ideas.  :D
I like months with pictures, when they offer enough choice, because I tend to browse pictures for inspiration anyway as I cook up stories.

Just voted.  Read them all through a couple of times and enjoyed them all both times.  A shame to have to narrow it down.

One story is leading at the moment, but there are a couple just 1 point behind, so your vote counts!

We've got 7 people voting, so not all writers have voted yet.

Congrats @Carter and @Jenny HJ  :D
Great New Year present, hehe

My first vote went to Carter, then I was undecided between @JMack and @Nora: sorry Nora, in the end I went with Jmack's 'happier' ending - and because I don't think anyone had written about a wheelchair on a ship before, hehe

Congrats to everyone, I sadly forgot to vote this time.

But I read now all stories again and would say that my votes would go to @Jenny HJ and to @Nora
The entries were great and I even got a vote.

I wont miss out to vote for the december entries for sure and I hope to read much more from you all in the future.

Congrats, you two!
I voted for @Carter - for me, the hands down top story of the month.
I also voted for a very worthy @Alex Hormann and there were a number of other stories I really enjoyed.

And @Slaykomimi ! You continue to make real progress. I hope you’re enjoying the contest and the work you’re putting in. We’re glad and all our recent newbies are here.

Happy new year, everyone.

Wow.  Thank you to everyone who voted for my story.  And congratulations to @Jenny HJ.  You got one of my votes - the other went to @Nora.  As I said below though, I enjoyed the lot this month (although that's hardly unusual).

I can't help but wonder if @Slaykomimi hasn't just broken the tie though...
