Congratulations, @Nora! I loved the world and the magic, plus the sense of specificity you brought. @Alex Hormann, the last line was so very fun. The whole thing was so very wrong it was right. You both had my votes.

@Slaykomimi, I was this close to giving you the nod.
@Matthew, you Story was really strong, too. Hard time choosing!

Congrats Nora!

My votes went to Jmack and Alex. Particularly loved Alex's as it reminded me of some of the weird early Stephen King shorts I read in Night Shift  :)

Wooh, thanks a lot everyone! I've been so busy this month I had forgotten about this!

Since I have won both Water and Earth, I proudly announce myself to be the official Mudcake writter!

I wanted to expand this story a lot more, cover what Mothers and initiate daughters are and all, and in the end I was too pressed for space, but I really enjoyed writing this, so i'm glad to see it was well liked!

It was a tough month for decisions. In the end my votes went to @Matthew and @Alex Hormann I liked the earth-bender ideas of one, and the creepiness of the other.
Jmack's story was very well written, but too uniformly grim for me this month, which is fucking rich coming from me, I KNOW.  ;D
But good uses of the elements all around. We should keep at it... we've done the basic ones but we could go with lightning/electricity and gravity and vacuum etc!

Why can't I like these posts? ::)
Kallor shrugged. 'I've walked this land when the T'lan Imass were but children. I've commanded armies a hundred thousand strong. I've spread the fire of my wrath across entire continents, and sat alone upon tall thrones. Do you grasp the meaning of this?'

'Yes' said Caladan Brood. 'You never learn'

@Overlord and @Arry :)

Is @Autumn2May  an admin?

There should be a ritual where we can turn Elfy into an admin. Darewood has the book of rituals 😀

Oh yes, she might be too.
I always get confused between admins and mods...

My votes went to @JMack and @Nora. Really liked most of what I read though, some tough competition here.

I'd say both were tied in my eyes, Nora had some great wordsmithing and JMack is simply brutal...

I'm genuinely surprised I managed 3 votes myself. Gives me the incentive to finish the novella I continued on from the entry.

Finish this story Matthew, but don't miss this month either!! I really liked your style, I'm curious to see more from you.

Now how do you guys feel about a critique thread for this month?

I’m for it! I was kind of thinking of doing a D_Bates and putting in a mini-crit for each story. Would you want to do that too?
