I've decided to sit this one out so there's no need to hold it open for me. I had an idea, but various things got in the way and it's too late to really do anything with it now. Next month should hopefully be better, and I look forward to reading and voting on the entries nonetheless.

I've got 1000 words of a 1500 word story finished, but I'm on deadline until midnight so I won't be able to get it done until tomorrow.

Damn shame. This was my dream subject and I'm way too busy to make a proper attempt. I still may submit a story just for the sake of it later.

Waiting to read the submissions over the weekend.

As I said, I'll only close the submissions tomorrow evening, so all to work this weekend, go, chopchop!

I can add the weekend, if that helps?

Close the submission first thing Monday morning UK time (4th June).

After all, it's in everybody's best interest (except the ones who've submitted already ;)) to have a nice number of stories!

Haha having never won one of these things, I'm sure the ones who've submitted already won't find my entries anything to be concerned about :) I'm just here for the captive audience.

As I said, I'll only close the submissions tomorrow evening, so all to work this weekend, go, chopchop!

I'm at 1300 words, I'll need to wrap things up (it'll prolly take me to 1600 or 1700), then cut it back down to 1500.  I haven't slept at all in 24 hours however, so I will need to crash for a bit.  Do you know what time you'll be closing things up? the other possibility is that i could tweak things a little and try to make this kind of about fire for next month....

Well, tomorrow is still the weekend, @Bradley Darewood  ;)

About 8.30pm tomorrow, so about 12.30pm where you are? Is that ok?

Yeah I've got tons of caffeine in my system so i didn't sleep and just kept writing. It ended at 1600 words.  i'm going to sleep then read through it and cut it down when I wake up.

Ok so I submitted. The only thing I have to do still is go through and add the rest of the italics, but im in bed on my phone atm I wanted to at least turn in what I've got even if I didn't get that handled in time. Maybe everyone can just pretend that the incantations and the voices of the Dead are all in italics...

Read them all. I know my favorite, but will need to go back and re-read carefully to pick another.
This month it seems like the 1,500 word limit is tougher than usual. Many of the stories are beginnings without ends.

I feel bad for missing this, but I got two books read and my own book written, so I'm calling it a win on balance. I will read and vote, however!

I hope so! Balancing my time has become a challenge, but I will do my level best.
