So as we're reading it this month, what do people think about this? SyFy seem to be trying to get their act together lately, with an adaptation of James S.A. Corey's The Expanse, 12 Monkeys and a mini-series of Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End all coming up. They've left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth with all their awful Sharknadosaurusrexcrocmegafight films though.

Seems Lev Grossman has a big hand in this, and with a 12 episode first season (just the right number - not too little and not too many!) there could be quite a good adaptation to be made here...

I kind of want to watch just for Eliot from that trailer.

Yeah I'm really impressed from this brief look. They've clearly tried to nail that hipster New York feel that's completely prevalent in Grossman's book. The magic looks amazing and so stylish even at this extremely early stage. Looking forward to seeing more from it.

After reading your initial post, I thought this could be very good or awful depending on the budget of the series. If that short promo video is anything to go of it looks like it could be very good. I finished the book this week and have mixed feelings about it.

It actually looks really good - especially interesting they are moving Julia's plotline from book 2 to book 1.

(Possibly the cast are a bit too goodlooking!)

Thanks for posting this.  I'll definitely want to check it out.  Looks like it's well cast.
