Sorry about that :-\

[Happy Dance!]

Thanks, everyone! I loved writing this; it was hard and rewarding both.

And a special shout out to @Elfy, who gave me incredibly valuable feedback on my first draft.

I'm not sure we've seen the last of Moggmathkin, though I suspect he'll be reincarnated into a more traditional fantasy world.

Moggmathkin sounds like a moogle name so that's how I pictured him.

To the people who have one vote, coming from someone with two votes, don't say "I only have one vote, do I suck?" but say "someone read my story and he/she thought it was among the best!"
Just having one person like your story makes a story worthwhile  :)

This:
don't say "I only have one vote, do I suck?" but say "someone read my story and he/she thought it was among the best!

and regarding your question:
did only one person like our story and everyone else think it was crap, or did people enjoy it but feel that others were better?
Definitely the later!
(in my opinion there were no crap stories)

Congrats @Jmack! :D And I must mention this month's favorite for me, Henry Dale's story. Really loved it, well done.

I wouldn't place so much importance on the existence / lack of likes. I mean, for the short while we had them in the contest, I just liked most people for the fact that they took part, even before I read a single line from their story. It had nothing to do with the content or quality of the writing.

Yah I guessed (or hoped really) it'd be the same as last month (with our dragon story), was just trying to explain the thought process!  :)

GGKK..... God Emperor Powers... Fading....

All joking aside, I'm very happy and not at all surprised at this result. Jmack's was easily the best in what was actually an impressively strong month. So massive congrats to him and everyone else who entered. But I shall reclaim my title next time, Gadget Jmack. Next tiiiime!!!

Side Note:

20 people voted: this means there should have been 80 individual votes, yet we only have 66.
Only 6 people used their full votes - 30%.
 >:(

And yet people want to include 'likes' :-\
On the contrary, I'd call this one of the big reasons we should have likes back. I'm one of the people who only voted for one entry (Jmack's) simply because, despite there being a lot of entries I enjoyed this month, I thought there was such a gap between them and Jmack's that in a contest to decide the best, it didn't feel right to me to reward them equally.

However, I have no such problem awarding out likes because votes and likes are inherently different things. Votes are given to entries you think should be recognized as the best. Likes are simply given to those you, well... like. And like well enough to recognise them for their... liketitude. As such there's no restriction. You can like only the entries you vote for or you can like every entry, depending on how you feel about them. Indeed, while I only voted for Jmack's story, there were at least 8-9 stories I felt worthy of a like this month and I think should be recognised as such.

And this is why everyone, not only writers, should vote.
Congratulations, Jmack, it was a more than worthy winner.
I will expand your TBR pile.

I don't see why this is a problem. Just because someone doesn't use all their votes doesn't mean that they don't like more stories than they voted for, it just means that there were a few standouts. I think that's what the voting should be about.
