  • No, there ain't a film, but who would you cast if there was one?

Director has to be Quentin Tarrantino

as for cast, I am thinking:

    Bayaz: Patrick Stewart
    Collem West: Sean Bean
    Dogman: Robert Carlyle
    Jezel dan Luthor: Josh Henderson
    Sand dan Glokta: still thinking
    Logen Nine Fingers:still thinking

    The last Rhega.

  • I'll play along.

Director: I wouldn't let Tarantino within a country mile of it. He cares more about making sure you're watching a Tarantino film, than he does about story. I'd go with Ridley Scott or Neil Marshall.

    Cast:

    Bayaz: Peter O'Toole
    Logen Ninefingers: Liam Neeson
Sand dan Glokta: I can't decide between Michael Fassbender and Dominic West
    Dogman: Sean Bean
    Jezal dan Luther: James McAvoy
    Collem West: Paddy Considine
    Ferro Maljinn: Michelle Rodriguez
I am NOT short. I'm further away than I look.

  • Agree that Patrick Stewart would be awesome as Bayaz.  He'd need to bulk up a bit, though.

I finally got my husband reading it!  And he thinks Micky Rouke would be good as Logen...can't see it, myself.  Black Dow, maybe...

  • I can see Mickey Rourke as Logen :D

James Franco as Jezal as well :D.
Glokta would to me be Christian Bale
Alan Rickman as the Arch Lector?
And Bill Bailey as the King :D

  • I will go a little off the reservation with my suggestions:

    Logen: Javier Barden
    Bayaz: Patrick Stewart
Jezal: Chris Pine - Has the right looks and could do obnoxious.
Glokta: Jon Hamm - Remember, Glokta was at the hight of his prime just a few years before the book begins (when he was captured and tortured).
West: Ben Affleck - He is only one year younger than Hamm but could pass for younger still. West served under Glokta on the war.
    Ardee: Mary Elizabeth Winstead
    Ferro: Zoe Saldana
    Quai: Jamie Bell

  • I like the suggestion of Chris Pine as Jezal. Remember boys and girl, he is someone you wanna punch, not have a beer with or date!i was also thinking Zac Efron as  a very dislikeable pretty boy! But chris pine is better as the character of Jezal does develop a lot over the trilogy and Chris Pine is a better actor and could gain the character more sympathy in the later films.
The Northmen though have to be northern british or better still Scottish.i can see the support and reasoning for Mickey Rourke but he would need to have a good accent to pull it off.

  • Technically speaking then they should really be Scandinavian as that is more of the basis of the Northerners in The First Law Trilogy, in which case i have more suggestions :P,
Logen - Joakim Nätterqvist could easily be made to look a bit older
    Dogman - Ólafur Darri Ólafsson
    Rudd Threetrees - Stellan Skarsgård
Tul Duru Thunderhead - Dolph Lundgren
Black Dow - I have no idea. has to be someone that can be incredibly sinister yet likeable at the same time.

When does Hollywood ever cast to type?

    But I was thinking:

    Kevin McKidd as Logen
    Ray Stevenson as Black Dow
    Daniel Craig as Collum West
    Alan Tudyk as The Navigator
    Ray Winstone as Bayaz

  • Ray Stevenson is definitely Black Dow!!!
Alan Tudyk i can see as the navigator,
i would personally say Ray Winstone as Bethod or possibly Crummock in the later novels.

  • We are definitely getting our actor nationalities way too mixed up!  Could end up as ghastly mix of accents at this rate!
